Nasty Looking Growth on Doe - 04/16/19 07:43 PM
Any of y'all know what this is? I've been getting pics of her since back in deer season, and her overall health doesn't seem to be deteriorating. She's always running with other does. It does seem like more of these wart things have grown in the past few months though.

cutaneous fibroma. She's got it bad too. I killed a buck that had some warts on him a while back but I've never seen one that bad ate up with it. Put her out of her misery.

I havent gotten any pictures of her in a few months. I dont know if these things are life threatening or if she may have just changed her home range for fawning. If she shows back up I'll post pics.

I had recurring pics of a doe several years ago that had warts, I started calling her Old Wart. The next year or so, they seemed to have disappeared. I'm about 95% certain it was the same deer due to other markings???

same here Sumter county about 10 years ago. His back legs were covered. Didn’t know until I shot him. Needless to say he went in a ditch. No way I was eating that thing

They will eventually clear up.
The growths on that doe are cutaneous fibromas and are caused by the papilloma virus.
Fibromas are also called warts, tumors, papillomas and fibrosarcomas, and they occur pretty much everywhere that deer live.
They are usually temporary on the body and can vary from 1/2 to 8 inches in diameter, or larger.
I saw a 7 point buck with way many more on him than the doe in your PIC a couple years ago.
I just let him walk.
Calves get those warts too and they clear up as they get a little older.
