I realize it’s a hair splitter...I just never felt confident whether he was 2.5 of 3.5 last year, & this year’s pics didn’t offer much more clarity. I only bow hunt this property, and I’d probably shoot him this year regardless.
If he gets you excited and makes you happy shootem. Worrying about age and score takes the excitement out of hunting

3 front and 4 in the back

I agree that it can, but I don’t sweat it like that. This one was just academic.

Its tough. Hes got a belly coming on, and his back is swayed a little. But, Im going with 3.5. Nice buck..the one behind him in the bottom picture looks good too.
Looks like he has more mass even
This is the deer behind him from the 2017 pic. Tight racked but definitely mature. He hasn’t shown up yet this year, but I had pics of him alive in March of 18, I hope he’s still around

I’d shoot either like they were about to bang my dog and murder my wife.

This is kinda weird to me. I’ve seen a couple people in this post that have killed a bunch of big deer and know a lot about deer add a “.5” to a September picture of an Alabama whitetail. I guess it’s just habit but it’s so weird to me. Most Alabama deer don’t ever reach that “.5” til after the season is over.

Most fawns are born in July/August down here. So by January they are 0.5.
