BH209 - 01/14/23 06:22 PM

JCs in Hunstville has quite a bit of BH209 and all their powder is 20% off, including the BH209. ~$43 w/ tax. I snagged one and was tempted to snag two.

Re: BH209 - 04/18/23 01:04 PM

Aside from the rifle range with my son, I haven’t used my black powder rifles in a while. I’m not sure why I’m surprised powder has gone up so much considering how much everything has gone up. I have a 1.5 lbs left that has an expiration date of June of this year. I usually don’t use it past the end expiration date, I know it’s still good but a your chance of a misfire increases.

Anyone have any suggestions about me continuing to use the powder past its expiration date?

The general consensus is that as long as its stored in a cool, dry environment it's shelf life should be a very long time.

here's a quote from a post in another forum where someone wrote to Ramshot to ask about shelf life

Here is the response I received today from Rob Behr at Ramshot regarding the shelf life of Blackhorn 209:

"We are wondering that too. We have had samples from the first lot which we cannistered in 2007. We test it each year and so far have not seen a reduction in its pressure or velocity."
