Sighting in muzzleloader - 11/14/18 04:11 PM

Heres the setup: cva optima, leupold 3x9, 120gr 777 powder, 250gr smackdown sabot.
I dont have 100yds without shooting toward somebodys house, 50yds is about the best I can do, so ive got it hitting the same hole 2inches high at 50yds. What do you think its gona be at 100yds or 150yds. I shouldnt be shooting further than 150yds so im not worried about past that.

I would adjust it until it was hitting only 1" high at 50 yards and you should be dead on at 100. Aim about an inch high at 150 yds and 3" high at 200yds.

Hey muzzlehead...Most all of my shots are inside of 75 yards so I sight mine in at dead on at 50. What would it be at 100, 150 and 200? Would it be 1" low at 100; dead on at 150 and 4" low at 200?

Just curious...Thanks

In my Accura V2 I'm shooting 100gr of Blackhorn 209 under a Barnes 300gr MZ Expander. It's hitting dead nuts at 150yds, 4 inches high at 100 and 4 inches low at 200. This is from shooting at my range from solid rest with permanent tables and target and not shooting off hand or guessing distance. My reason for this zero is to hunt Illinois in a couple weeks where long shots are possible.

So...If mine is dead on at 50 yards, where would it be at 100? or 150?

I googled a chart on different bullets, all close to the same weight, using the same powder. With all dead on at 100yds the drop varied greatly at 200yds.

You will never know until you shoot it at those ranges. Way too many variables.

i have a TC Encore... 250 gr sst bullet w three trip 7 pellets(150 grains)... ballistic chart says sight in at 80 which i do.

I'm about an inch low to even at 125... 4.5 to 5 inches low at 150 to175 yards, and 7 inches low at 200... i've tested these distances several times cleaning after each shot and impacts r always consistently the same. like others have said, u have to hit the range + know what your weapon will shoot. i rarely shoot over 125 but if big boy steps out at 150/175 w/ a solid rest i'd take the shot w confidence.

I got the answer to my question. 2 inches high at 50= 8inches high at 100. I missed a buck thursday evening so I set up a 100yd target. 8inches high. Got her 1inch high at 100yds now.
