If you could buy any MZ for maximum range, what would that be (gun and distance)?
Weighing the option of a MZ hunt in Colorado next year. Trying to see what my options are. last MZ I had was an Optima and I absolutely hated that thing.

You better check Colorados regs first. No scopes, sabots or pellitized powder. Might have some influence on your decision.

Was your Optima a V2? The one I had was a tack driver, my son loves it now.

Yikes. I'm probably more lethal with my bow.

Nah any 50cal. conical and a good peep sight you'd be in business. You'd have better load development with loose powder anyway. I'd just hate for somebody to spend a bunch of money outfitting a rifle and then not be able to use half the stuff they bought. I don't own an inline so I can't help you there. And my eyesight and shooting ability stops at about 125 even with a center fire and open sights.

I have a knight ultralight 50 cal. I have only shot it out to 200 yards but it still has a tight group. I shoot a Hornady 250 with three 50 grain pryodex pellets. The gun only weights 6 lbs without the scope. You will carry it more than shooting it.

This is the main reason I chose NM for my elk hunt over CO. Ok to use in-lines with scopes there.

My setup:
CVA Accura MR, Leoplod Ultimate Slam, 100g BH, 300g Hornady FBP,
2" group at 250y. That group was with a lead sled and taking my time. Can cut clovers at 100y.

I have a Savage smokeless that could easily be a 200 yard gun.

A .45 might be a little flatter shooting for you, at distance.
