Killed yesterday - 01/31/15 02:51 PM

I know deer pics don't belong here but since it was killed with one of my custom 30-06 handloads for a buddy of mine I figured it'd be okay.

Makes me feel good knowing one of mine took this one down.
He ran 30 yards dropped like a rock. Hit in shoulder exited opposite rib cage.

beers It's satisfying when your labor bears fruit. What was that 06 recipe if you don,t mind my asking? Gonna get something worked up for my Dad's old 760 this year.

Dixiepatriot I will get that to you soon as he sends me a pic of the load data card. I did not keep a copy but it's all on the load card.

Dixie Patriot,
Bullet was 165gr Hornady Interlock BTSP
56.7 grains of H4350
Cci primers
Winchester brass
Flash Holes are deburred
Bullet seated to 3.216 (no crimp)
Velocity estimated @2800fps

My buddy previously had been using factory ammo with same bullet and velocity.. he really liked it so I came up with a combo to duplicate.

Although I recommended he shoot my loads at the range prior to hunting I don't think he ever did. Luckily the load must have been so close to the factory load point of aim/impact didn't change at all or enough to matter.

Thanks. I was gonna try 165s although my Dad always for some reason shot 150s.

YEP!
I feel almost as much satisfaction on a big buck as the person who killed it, --When I know I weighed the powder, trimmed the brass, and sized it , not to mention looking at each bullet I pass out.
SO___ I say Its fair game to put the fruit of your handloads here.

Nice!

This was my second season deer hunting, killed 3 more for a total of 6. Every one of these deer died by one of my hand loads (I've never killed a deer with store bought ammo). Feels good don't it?

Even though I personally did not kill the deer the fact that it was killed with one of my handloads definitely feels good.
