43 Spanish Rolling Block - 02/06/20 04:50 AM

Not reloading - yet, but... Slugged my very first bores ever. Always been leery of driving a rod thru the bbl! But it went very well. Slugged the 43 Spanish RB and a Steyr 95 8x56R I have had for ages. 43 Spanish RB - Heard all the stories of oversized chambers and bores on those too. When I got the rifle, had nothing/had to get brass/dies/mold. Lucked up on a mold and took a chance that the bore WOULD be oversized. Found an RCBS 44-370 (~.446/Spanish should be .439) double cavity mold (can only get new 1C) with handle on fleabay for $50. Turns out my 43 slugs at .444. That 44-370 should be absolutely perfect for the old war horse! I am thrilled.

See this is what nonloaders don't understand. Congrats Oft on bringing the horse back to life. Never messed with the 43Srb.

I also have a RB action in custom built 45-70. It is fun to shoot. And third RB is a 7x57 Mauser. Long story, but that one is getting traded out with my buddy I got it from. All 3 RBs will see cast bullets. Intend to shoot them out to ~350 yds against some of the kids and their plastic guns. Should be a hoot!
