Need some 25-06 loads

Need some 25-06 loads - 08/21/17 08:55 PM

Gave an assortment of powder and bullets. Ideally I would like to push the 110g accubonds north of 3200. Any ideas?

I've got a super accurate load for mine using 110 grain ABs. Then I chronoed it at around 2900. Very slow. It performed great on the one and only buck that I shot with it.

It was 47.5 grains of IMR4350. That's Nosler's mid load, so I got a lot of working room. A max load of Retumbo would probably be a good start, as well.

I'm gonna be working on some more speed before this season.

I'd look at 4831,Rl22...the usual slow burners.

Without looking at my book I believe I am using right at 50 grains in IMR4831 with the 115 berger

53grs of H4831 with 110gr will get you somewhere around 3100, I don't think your going to get much over 3200 with the 110 gr.

115 Berger VLD's 60 grains of Retumbo right at 3200 fps.

I have another rifle that's 58.5 and runs just north of 3200 so work up.

Either are about 1/2 MOA at 200

The only thing that will get you there is Retumbo around 59 grains under a 110 and I'm over 3200 as well.

Reloader 26 may get you there but I haven't messed with it quickload shows 58.7 gr under a 110 Nosler gets 3200 but it is near max.

Gonna depend on the chamber though every rifle is different.

ALWAYS work up.

I haven't worked up to max yet, but RL26 is giving me nearly 3000 fps with 120 grain Partitions.

Did some testing today. 52-53g of R22. Average velocity at 53 was 3100. Does anybody have quickload and could tell me what the max I could run of R22

Until you blow the primers or split the brass. You are at about max now. 100 fps isn't going to get you anything, if you are getting good results just shoot it. If you want a speed demon step up to the 257 STW, or a 257 weatherby would be next in line. You can only drive a bullet out of a .257 hole so fast that the amount of powder burnt just doesn't equal out to the results you get. The 25-06 is about as efficient as a 25 caliber round as there is out there. Hybrid 100v shows some interesting results, look on hodgdon reloading page for info.

The results you get with R22 when its 90 degrees may change a lot when its 40 degrees. You could lose 100 fps from 90 - 40 degrees. R22 is one of the most temperature sensitive powders and I've experienced some big velocity (and pressure) swings when it's hot outside.

IMR 4350,49.5 grains, 110 accubond or 52.0 grains imr 4350 a 100 grain barnes ttsx out of mine. Very much overlooked and underestimated caliber. Love the 25-06!

I tested some 100g Nosler today with better results. 56.5g of R22 gave me just under a 1" group and velocity of almost 3500 fps. It's FAST lol.
