Is there another way to get rid of coyotes other than traps?

I have some ideas I've wanted to test on trying to deter them off of main road systems to see if its possible to just minimize how much they travel through a particular property

You know , there's a hand full on here that tells them to leave that sh!t alone but there's always some body that will say ,,,,,,, use temik.

I guess they either stupid or ignorant as to just how dangerous Temik is . When we used this for cotton at planting time we had to use a full suit , gloves and breather.

Another thing , you get on you clothe's and you kill the kid in your lap or wife when she washing them you'll know not to use it next time

For every spare minute of your life and 50 dollars a week worth of food you could have some dang good dogs. Then flea pills, wormer, etc.

I don’t know how well it works or not but rat poison from the co-op mixed with hamburger meat is what my dad started doing

Xylitol ,,,,, 2 tablespoon is plenty to kill two average size dogs.

You order it,,,,, Xylitol ( sugar substitute) . Amazon sells it by the bag

Amount: 1 teaspoon (tsp) of birch xylitol volume
Equals: 4.48 grams (g) in birch xylitol weight

This is the way

Fair warning, hide the meat pile from buzzards and hawks, I’ve heard it works on them too

Re: Doing away with coyotes - 07/10/22 06:54 PM

Strychnine will also kill any scavenger that eats the dead coyotes, and then kill whatever eats the dead scavenger.

Find a vet that’ll give you a litter of puppies with parvo.

Fly bait or rat poison on all gut piles may work

Re: Doing away with coyotes - 08/20/22 03:11 PM

Rat poison don't work unless they eat a lot of it. My dogs have eaten it and it doesn't slow them down a bit because they gotta eat lots of it. Small dogs are different story. They die quick and don't take much.

Sponge and Bacon Grease with Tuna Oil works!!!!

Re: Doing away with coyotes - 10/22/22 06:11 PM

Auger 10” hole three deep, put a 40” piece of 10” PVC in hole. Make a small cage and put a couple chicks in it and put in hole. When you come back, you will more than likely see a tail. Pull pipe and move to another spot. You won’t catch two from the same hole.

Re: Doing away with coyotes - 11/15/22 03:49 AM

I’ve seen parvovirus decimate them on a place years ago.

I’d trap them but I’d never poison them. Too much risk for other, non target animals. Outside of rats and insects around the house, I hate even the thought of putting toxins of any kind, out into the woods. I’ll hunt the heck out of them, trap them, or ven pay for trapping if I could afford it….but there’s a ton of folks around that’ll shoot or trap them for you, just for the asking. You don’t need to kill all of them. They know when some are becomes dangerous, and many will move out.

Cut sponge 1,5 to 2 inches square , plugs them up, they die, we had a lease in Barbour Co and it worked

I trapped a place for a a guy who had put out blue sponges with bacon grease on them, found coyote turds with blue sponge pieces in them. I'd put my trust in a MB550 or a fully modified #2 Bridger dogless to get the job done.

They don't if they are just dropped in grease and layed out

You got to compress them so the swallow them whole and expand inside them .

I wouldn't do sponges in grease are poison . There are better ways .

I were to do some thing like this id buy a 10lb of xylitol from amazon make some meat balls
