Remind Me on Cable Length - 03/14/19 12:11 AM

For DPs. Got to ready a new one or 2 and I forgot. I like the loop I can go around tree and come back through with trap.

Mine are 6’. Just remember, the longer the lead, the more tangled up they can get. However, if u tie to a big tree, it can eat up 6’, easily. It’s all situational. I just bought six more Z Traps, and am only adding a Connor coil spring, another swivel, and about a foot of chain w a quick link, so that I can tie to eye bolts or rebar T stakes.

Gonna have to look up Z traps.
It’s kinda pitiful. I been running one trap last several weeks. I had like 3 and 2 have disappeared.
I’ve caught 4 coons and a possum. I’m kind of addicted.
The place is small. 11 acres. I’m going to run half dozen next season.

I usually just pull arm span lengths + another 6 or 8 inches to make the loops

The 6' drowner cable works good for an extention and will go around a variety of tree sizes

I would do one about arms length with a loop on the end big enough to put the trap through so you can loop it onto something. That's just easy so things don't get all tangled. Then build a few 6' extensions. Attached both to the trap with a quick link and you should be able to work with that on anything you will encounter. If you are running a LOT of traps I keep different length cables in different buckets and hook everything on with a quick link. Nothing hanging off the trap to get tangled.

The reason your traps are disappearing is because coons can chew through cable!

I think I had one toted off when I first started couple years ago.
I’ve misplaced another one in my dang piled up garage.
