Man these things get complicated. There was about 20 geese hanging around the farm today, so I got my steel shot out and put the full choke barrel on the 1100 for in the morning. I got out the rule book to see my limit, and I'll be dang if early season didn't go out today.. Oh well maybe they will still be around next week, on the 20th.

This legal business gets tough..

yall go them new fanagled screw in stuff. They wont pattern like a choked barrel..

Too much choke on steel will blow te pattern. I shot a bunch of steel thru a screw in choke before I knew any better

.22 rifle will kill them sky carp better than that 1100.

For geese you might want to jump up a few sizes DW. Them suckers are tough and have a lot of feathers to shoot through. You will get cleaner kills going with bb's - T shot. The bigger shot will also like a more open choke or barrel lol.

Make jerky out of them, it is the best use of goose meat that I have found.

Ambush them in the pasture. Shoot them in head like a turkey.

i talked to the benelli folks the other day and he said dont use full choke with steel, said steel shoots two sizes up.modified with steel shoots like full.

Well I don't know how much more I can explain it, I ain't shooting no screw in choke. It is a fix choked barrel, that has and will continue to shoot #6 steel good. Now if I go to a bigger pellet I will put on my modified barrel.

I've heard that #4 buckshot will put a hurting on them.

So what kind of screw in chokes do you use DW? Whatever they are they obviously won't work.

I have heard that they are highly allergic to a 223 rem, myself.

Daniel, what these guys are telling you has nothing to do with screw in chokes, I guess you are using the #6 steel game loads. they are talking about shooting waterfowl loads through a full choke. there is too much constriction on a full choke to use a waterfowl load like 3" #4,3,2 bb and so on. you will most likely ruin your barrel with a real waterfowl load. my buddy blew the end of his barrel open and sent his full choke tube flying across the pond on a 20 ga 870 using waterfowl loads

The issue is that steel is too hard and will not compress(bend) at the end of the barrel to fit through like lead. At the least you may see a slight bulge in the end of the barrel and at worse you may damage the end of the barrel.

DW, put a fully rifled choke tube on your 1100, that way you get some nice spin on that steel shot and can "matrix" any goose who gets cocky with you in the pasture.

Just use lead and don't put it on the forum
