Hunting them is a lot of fun. Never tried eating one, at least intentionally.

Here's a recipe. (I know that the old edition of The Joy of Cooking does indeed have a similar recipe.):

I have. They are good. Taste pretty much like Dove. Toughest part is actually getting the meat because they seem so dirty when you are cleaning them. But once you have it breasted out, you wouldn't be able to tell the difference between crow and dove. I guess you still have to cook it a little more since they are scavengers and have been eating dead animals and such. But don't let anyone tell you they aren't good. I've had people give me the whole "they are gritty and chalky tasting!" But when I ask if they have actually had it, the answer is always no...They are delicious, its just a mental thing.

Crows eat the maggots out of road kill....i would rather have a bucket of kfc. However, my buddy and i have been shooting them for over 35 years. Lots of fun!!

I do. I use a fox pro caller and man you better be sitting at the ready when you turn it on because they come out of the woodwork.

Speaking of callers...what do you suggest for calling crows and coyotes?

Always seemed like you better knock them first birds down that came in.We called them "scouts"...

Do you guys use decoys at all or just the caller alone ?

I like to use a couple decoys. Maybe one on the ground and one in a tree. I prefer just a couple for them to see, not a full spread or anything. Some people put an owl decoy out too if they’re playing an owl/crow fight
And as the poster above said, definitely need to kill the first one(s) that come in, or else they’ll circle back and sit in a tree 100 yards away and let everyone know that it’s a trap
Buddy had an electric caller that called them in like crazy. Never seen anything like it. Even had a big owl come in and start swooping down. I think it was a baby crow fight sequence. Called in some hauks with it to.
