Public spots in N. AL - 09/08/19 09:49 PM

I've got a couple days off during the week. Do yall know if any of the WMAs east or west of Huntsville have fields set up for dove hunting? Would be nice to go sit a while during the week without a huge crowd around.

Swam creek is probably closest to Huntsville, lots of cut fields

Keep in mind that not all WMAs are open for dove hunting 7 days a week. Not sure about Swan Creek.

I’m no dove expert but the hunts I’ve been on have been over cut corn, turning soy, etc. as far as public land goes cut corn is about your only option from what I’ve seen up here. You can go any day and walk around public land and jump shoot em. I think this is more fun if you don’t have a lot of people. From what I could tell if it’s been a long while since the food has been cut and/or you don’t have a lot of people there won’t be many birds to be had. I’ve had good luck walking the edge of cotton and cut corn fields. Good luck!
