Pheasants/quail

Anybody have a report on these from Texas or Kansas?

Heard Kansas was down.

Lots of CRP grass is being put back in crops in Kansas, so the acreage for hunting is shrinking. My dad lives out there during bird season and he said probably down 1/3 this year due to this.

I’ve got a buddy that has a place near Throckmorton, Tx and he said their numbers of quail are back close to what they used to be before the big drought. I turkey hunted out there a couple years ago and jumped several coveys. If there’s more than that now, you could hunt them without a dog if you wanted to. I’ll know for sure after the first week of April.

Thanks Johnal3, was looking to go but now have left arm in cast after knife accident and reconstructive surgery. Maybe next year you can hook me up as we have dogs.

Let me know and I’ll see what he says. I know this....that place has more game on that 8000 acres than any 3 counties combined in Alabama I think.
