Report in..........how did yall do over Christmas?

We went Sunday morning and saw probably 300 birds that were high as a 747, killed one woody. Had a chance to go to a friends yesterday morning with my Son and some others. Had a decent morning, we killed 15 Gadwalls and had several small groups work but they were shy. Had fun either way and go to spend some quality time with my Son.

sounds like a good time. Hopefully we will get some coming down this week with the front coming in for new years.

Saw some black ducks killed in a gnarly swamp this weekend. This cold is really gonna drive em down if blacks were killed in Dec.

Me and my wife are heading up there on the 3rd and staying through the weekend. The woods have some water now so hopefully we'll be timing it right.

Been killing ringnecks

We're headed back to Dewitt,Arkansas the 3rd to the 7th. Hopefully we'll be hitting it just right.
Will have to better than it was Thanksgiving weekend,70* & not much water.

I've been working this week, but I understand there's a few farms between the black and the cache rivers that are absolutely mauling them for about 1-2 hours every afternoon (1-3 pm). I've seen some pics of heavy straps.

This morning was real slow with just a few buffleheads... out of nowhere a pintail lands 25 yards outside our decoy spread. He swam a half circle around and maintained a safe distance. Did this for 20 mins then flew off. Just outta range (Make no mistake, i've shot my fair share of ducks on the water but he was too far). Would have been my first pintail Never hunted outside AL

NE Arkansas is about to be frozen for about 5 days. Get the chainsaws and ice eaters warmed up!

Some guys have been busting ice in the fields, no birds in the air. Even the diehards left today to come back home. Some seem to think the timber might freeze up. If so get ready here if you can find some open water.

Last time AR locked up we had a helluva 2 weeks!!!!!!

Not me, I was up there during a good freeze and we could not get to our spot in the timber. It's hard to kill them if you can't get to them 😂

We wore them out here in NW Bama. Killed mallards in dry fields, only time I've ever killed ducks in dry fields in Alabama. We had 8-10000 bids working the area and we wore them out!

It was 2000 or 2001 if I recall correctly.

And that was back before no till farming left all the food on the ground. That's one reason ducks aren't down here much anymore

Got about 45 ducks, a 7pt, and 2 hogs. In Ar and Ms.

Left for AR on the 26th and came back on the 29th. We busted ice every morning and shot about 20 ducks and (mallards and GWT) and 18 snows between 3 guys. Ducks are not in the fields and we noticed that initial front before the freeze that brought 20 MPH winds moved some of the birds out of the area. Saw drastically less geese than the last trip too.

Yea, from a hunting perspective I'm not liking this new equipment.

Just talked with a guy back from AR, said the ducks are in the timber still and so are the hunters. I'm hoping next week the fields thaw out.

Timber is froze

He was at Bayou Meto, been back a few days. Hasn't helped here as far as I know. Gonna be looking into next few days though.

Murdered them on the Foot. Lake is Frozen over had to get the Airboat out.
