HIP stamp - 08/24/17 10:55 AM

Where the heck can I find one. I ask for one at Wal Mart the other day. The guy at the counter looked at me like I was stupid and said he had never heard of it. Can you print one online??? I have a lifetime license.

Two words in you post explain the entire problem. Wal Mart!!!! I have come to believe that it is a liberal, antigun and anti hunting conspiracy. The sporting good department is often manned by a person that knows next to nothing about anything outdoor related. You should be able to print it off online but save yourself a headache and leave Wal Mart out of it.

I can't find it online. Maybe I'm looking at the wrong place.

Re: HIP stamp - 08/24/17 11:47 AM

They are still free correct???

Re: HIP stamp - 08/24/17 12:42 PM

Yes, still free.

When you purchase your license they're supposed to ask about it then, and then you answer the short survey.

I'm unsure if there's a separate HIP sticker and/or survey anymore. Last times I've purchased licenses online in several states the HIP portion was automatically included.

Walmart's license vendors should be able to be able to see this and/or find it in their license system.

They can not be picked-up/issued until August 28 or later.

It's not a stamp. It's literally printed on your hunting license and the price says 0.00. The person issuing the hunting license asks you a couple question about how many migratory birds you killed the previous year, etc. you can do it online.

When did this go into effect?

I've purchased licenses at different times of the year, over the years, and have always had the option to get a HIP permit should I want/need it. It's not like there was a timeframe.

Big gal at walmaks tried to tell me they didn't have them last year either. Finally got one. She said technically it's not a stamp it's a print out... Dam....

I have a lifetime license so I don't buy a license.

Re: HIP stamp - 08/24/17 08:41 PM

I have a lifetime as well. I always print it out online but I haven't done it for this year.

Per state license folks...... HIP stamp (and all other '17-'18 licenses) will be available starting next week, Aug 28th at 8:00am. They are in the process of updating their website to reflect the '17-'18 license year.

I emailed them Monday about this and that is the response I received. It's easier to me to get HIP from their website as oppose to WalMart, but that's just my preference. I have a lifetime license as well.

Here's the link, but again licenses won't be ready until 8/28 at 8:00am....

I got a warning in Kansas one time because the idot at Walmart told me I didn't need a hip since I already had one in 4 other states that year.

Go to outdoors alabama. Go in like you are going to buy an AL hunting license on line. Select the HIP license and go through the checkout process. It will show $0 and let you print it out.

If you are 65 or over are you required to have the HIP stamp?

Have been told both:

"You got one in Alabama? You don't need one here."

"You need one in each state."

I just get one in each state, which makes sense.

Re: HIP stamp - 08/30/17 07:33 AM

They do not do "stamps" anymore. Problem for several of my friends who have lifetime license. But, I just tell them to add it when they go in and get state duck stamp.

Re: HIP stamp - 08/30/17 03:17 PM

Correct, it is no longer a stamp. HIP stands for harvest information program. Basically, you just print off a piece of paper which proves you have registered for the current year in the HIP program so they have your contact info and info on what you shot in previous years. All persons hunting migratory birds, regardless of age or whether they are required to have a license or not, are required to have proof of HIP registration on them at all times in the field.

Says optional when you apply and are over 65, I was helping dad n law get his Stuff needed for season.

Re: HIP stamp - 08/31/17 10:43 AM

Better be careful on that. State may not have an issue with it but doves are federally regulated too and the HIP program is a federal program. Unless there is a 65 and older fed exemption, I'd take the 30 seconds it takes to get one just to make sure.

Re: HIP stamp - 09/04/17 05:00 PM

I don't believe there is any exemption for HIP regarding age. If you're hunting migratory birds then you have to have it.

So when I've answered the HIP questionnaire over the years I screwed it up?
I've given the total number of birds I killed, not per state.
Oh well, that explains all the Fed surveys they want me to fill out.
