There is thread around here somewhere from some time ago that discussed this subject. Elk hunter (Aldeer pig encyclopedia) had some good info. Try a search.

Y'all just have slow hogs around there. You drop a kernal of corn on the ground around here and there's hogs on it before you get back to the truck.

Hog calling works better than baiting. My mentor is Glen Guess from Hog Zombies and Convergent. I use Hog Pro App with Glen’s sound pack and a few he is working on now that aren’t available yet. If you go that route I can give you some sequences that have worked well for me per Glen. And I don’t care what speaker you choose to use, NOTHING rips it like the convergent speakers. I really recommend some stand off distance between you and cover because they come in hard sometimes and in the thick stuff they can be on you and spooked before you get a shot. Two things I’ve noticed is if they are within earshot (long ways) they are coming, and sometimes they are there and you don’t know it yet.

If you use something like the sidewinder that isn’t bluetooth the drawback is they are coming right in on ya. Also, the sound “Vampigra” IS GOING TO bring coyote to ya so some distance between you and the call can be nice.

“Vampigra” will also just about rip your ear drums out. I’m guessing that sound cranked up with pig or yote ears would be heard for miles ?

I use primarily “Hey Baby”, “Vampigra”, and “Boar Magnet” in a sequence of about 2 minutes each and then let it play for a few minutes on “hey baby” real low so I can hear if they are coming. I also use the “low grunt & sniff” if they are shy and I want to pull them out of the brush.

You have to keep your eyes peeled from the first note because sometimes they come in that fast depending on where they are. I shot a boar two weeks ago at 20 yards that busted out of the brush right when I hit Vampigra.

A quote from one of my recent communications with Glen, “you'd amazed at how many still swear it doesn't work”
