They're baaackkkk!

They're baaackkkk! - 01/01/20 06:03 PM

3-4 sows with 10 little ones larger than footballs, 1 big boar and 1 small boar.
One of the sows looks like you shoved a 55 gallon barrel in her. She's fixing to have piglets.

Problem is the sows and little ones aren't consistently together.
Some sows are showing up on cameras at same times different places, and then together again a day later. .

Going ahead and setting the root stick.
Hopefully I'm not messing up.

They're inconsistent, and sometimes showing up, sometimes they don't. Sometimes all of them, sometimes a few.
All go in the trap, it's just getting them together.

No cell signal here either. Everything is manual.

Maybe I'll have something tomorrow.
Be like waiting on Christmas morning.

For whatever reason, the gate was triggered, but the root stick and gallon jugs were still in place.
No pigs in pen.
Maybe a deer snagged the line running to gate trigger/pin.

I left the gate down as it's supposed to flood again tonight and tomorrow.

Try to set it next week if they return.

Just out of curiosity, why didn't you tie the gate up and allow them to continue eating inside to trap to become more comfortable?

Gate was tired. Pigs were comfortable going in.
All pigs were going in.

All 16 pigs don't ride in the same car to the pen, but sometimes their rides to the pen arrived at the same time.
Sometimes, all 16 pigs are together on site, sometimes they are in different fields, same time, according to cameras.

I can't make all 16 pigs stay together 24 hours of the day.

David B.

Not until you send them all to the final resting place. ๐Ÿ˜†

How is that gate wired or triggers as far as the set up. I put up a corral trap but havnt figured a way for the door yet

Re: They're baaackkkk! - 01/16/20 12:56 AM

Gate is triggered when pin (bar) is pulled out of end.

Iron bar with right angle bend of 2 inches.

End of bar (1/4") goes in welded pipe on gate.

When bar is yanked out of pipe, gate closes.
Can be manual trigger like root stick or trip line, or electronic device.

Had 10 little pigs using trap four days straight.
Mama had been shot.

Set trap yesterday around 2:30pm.

Caught all 10 .

Heck, since we bought our trap my hunting buddy gets more excited when we drop the gate than when he's onto hot buck sign!

I do as well, but I don't have the cameras and auto gate due to no cell signal.

I have ATT in the area, but no signal in the holes of the hollows and river/creek fields.
Verizon might very well work there though.
