Pretty sure this is the same hog I went out and shot a few weeks ago. We never found any blood, which was not surprising, but we never found the pig even though I was confident I hit him. And that looks like about where I would have hit him, considering we later found out the gun was shooting a little high.

I can’t tell you the amount of hogs I have caught on my hunting club that had been gut shot because a couple members that no longer hunt with us decided it was easier to gut shoot them so they didn’t have to load them up and haul them off. A hog is a tough animal that can survive some rough injuries.

I one lunged a big boar with a slick trick a few years ago. He was captured in a trap a year later with the Broadhead and 8” of my shaft in his chest cavity. They’re tough.

I was gifted a hog from my nephew once. While skinning it several shotgun pellets fell out, I also found a 3 blade broadhead embedded in it around the front shoulder. The hog finally fell to a .22 to the head.

Dang. I gotta wonder also if another boar survived that my brother shot because we’re pretty positive he hit it in the lungs with a 7 mm 08, and the hog ran around in circles for probably close to a minute before running off never to be found again. He bled a good bit but we eventually stopped finding blood altogether. I’d like to think that he died, especially after being shot with a rifle, but you never know I guess.

I shot a 150 or so pound boar last year at around 325 yds. He was on the backside of dirt berm in a cutover road with his head down and all I could see was the top 3-4 inches of his shoulder. I had a good rest, known distance, so I figured I could squeak one in just over the top of the berm and clip his spine. I cut it a little too fine or slightly misjudged the distance because I just barely clipped the top of the berm and saw dirt fly through the scope. Pig cut a backflip, went to kicking and rolled over into the cutover. Figured he was DRT. Walked down there a couple hours later and black hair, a little blood and no pig. Got a pic about 2 weeks later in same general area of a black boar hog with a fist sized U-shaped chunk missing right above his shoulder. I'm positive that I just barely clipped the top of that berm, bullet mushroomed while still retaining velocity and just blew a hunk of meat out the top of his shoulder but not quite getting down into his spine. They are tough animals for sure. Shot'em in the head and you dont have to worry about it. Should've waited for him to raise his head but we kill every hog we see and I didnt want to take a chance of him getting out of the road and took the shot I had.

That is why you shoot them in the head.

Hell, I killed a buck one time that had a broad head embedded in the shoulder.

I shot a big boar in a field once 3 times and trailed blood for 500 or so yards and never found him. They are some tough suckers

My buddy shot a hog in the shoulder with a 308. We both saw the dust cloud when it hit. The hog turned and look at us, grunted and walked away. We never found it.

Looks like it. But, lets talk about that feeder. Good googly moogly that's a big feeder. It looks like the Lunar module is trying to steal a hog. Going back to what Matt said. A hog's lungs are built like our lungs. Each lung has it's own sack. Which means, if you drop one lung he can still breathe with the other lung. BTW, deer don't have this. Both of their lungs are contained within the same "sack".

Yes we call the feeder rocket ship. It will hold 1800 lbs of corn.

Ear-hole them. Took me a few times to learn that. It’s easy to mistakenly shoot them too far forward when going for a head shot.

With a single shot contender.... And then hit the second one, over the head, with the barrel. 😆

True story. Had a friend that shot one behind the shoulder with 30/06 hollow points. We tracked the sow down to the creek and found her. She was laying there gasping for air so my brother asked for my gun to put her out of her misery. He held the gun barrel to her ear and pulls the trigger. He shot her in the head with my 30-06 hollow points and this bastard turned inside out, jumped up and ran our asses over and took off. We could hear her squealing for what had to of been a mile away. After we got our chit together on what just happened, trying to find the gun and flash lights we were finding pieces of brains hanging on tree limbs there where we shot her. When it happened we were scared to death but looking back we laugh at what happened but we are still amazed at how that thing got up and ran. We never found her either

so you shot a hog point blank in the head with a .30-06 and splattered its brains all over the woods, and the thing ran off several hundred yards?

Never moved. Now that's weird.
