Slugged a nice one - 02/12/18 06:59 PM
My club has been wearing out the hogs. I put the quaheetis on a big sow saturday morning. I don't know what she weighed but she was stout!!!! James is gonna post her up for me. He's a good feller.

Yep. 12 gauge hornady’s. Shot her at about 50yds then she rolled another 50yds end over end down a ridge. I like the setup. I used to have a Marlin model 512 bolt action slug gun that I killed a lot of deer with.

You shot the hornadys out of the 512? I have one and I'm needing a slug that will pattern well out of it. That gun is a cannon!

No. I sold the Marlin several years ago. The last slugs I shot out of the Marlin were the Federal Barnes expanders. I'm shooting Hornady's out of the 870 because that's all I could find late in the season. When I was using the Federals in the Marlin I would only shoot it 3 or 4 times to practice. The cost and the soreness did not make shooting it pleasurable.

The Federal's shot pretty well out of the Marlin? Yes, it is painful.

Well... looks like the Federal Barnes Expanders are no longer in production.
