Lowndes WMA Hog Hunt Aug 15 - Sept 5

Heard they trapped and killed them all though. Probably wasting my time.

Check out jake rd, last time I was down there it was torn up around the swamp

South rd and Hwy 80 big swamp is where it's gonna be at. If I understand correctly they only trapping around check station. I've sat many hours deer hunting around check station and haven't seen many hogs over the years although I know they are there. I usually get a goodun every year off big swamp 200+lbs

Heard some grunts this evening but couldn't locate them. Back at it tomorrow at sunrise.

Buddy in my hunting party got his first ever hog around lunch today! Good eating size.

I can definitely tell the trapping on Lowndes is lowering the overall population ( on the WMA itself). Sign is way down as well as numbers.

Any idea how many have been killed this season so far?

Probably not many. Friday and Saturday we nearly had the woods to ourselves in a PRIME hog area you guys are familiar with.

Didn't hear many shots.

I'm still itching the mosquito bites even with a thermacell!

Barry, don't know a number I just know it's a huge dent! I haven't been one damn time n not seen a hog until this past Sunday/Monday. Will be back at it Sunday but they have put a hurting on them. If I can run across Chris I'll ask him, know he's happy as hell they killin em. I do know most all are dead on the north side. Hwy 80 is where it's at, that's the only clue I can give. He changed jobs with the state. That's all I'm saying, don't like putting folks stuff out there, but he is not at the wma anymore. He loves his new job though!! Even more than his old one!!

Dang, I'm going to miss talking to Chris out there! I wish him well. He really was a hoot, and had a ton of WMA knowledge.
