Lowndes WMA Hog Hunt

Anybody hunting at Lowndes WMA special hog hunt starting Monday for the next couple weeks? Me and my lil bro will be out there Monday. If anyone going, where the hogs hiding at? Saw a lot of fresh sign when I was there this past Monday.

Ive been wanting to go but never found a schedule for this fall... where did you see that it started monday?

I called the district ranger a few weeks ago. It opened Saturday and goes till sept 5th I think it was. Going down Tuesday for a few days.

Just got back, busted a 200+lb boar. Made for a fun hunt

Save one for me. My boy and I will be there tomorrow morning. Maybe will meet while there and have a cup of coffee.

Heading out there solo tomorrow for a couple of days. Hope to kill a boar with some character! Plus a meat pig!

What's so "special" about the hunt? Unless I'm mistaken, you can hunt them all year long out there.

You technically, can but something else has to be in season and you can only use the permitted firearms for the game that is in season. The special hunts are similar to deer rifle hunts, you can use pretty much any WMA legal rifle and bows.

Well if I could hit a running pig I'd be coming home with some bacon this weekend.

I did see about five big hogs in a cut field on private property that look like a herd of buffalo they were so large.

I need to work on some shooting drills on small, short, fast moving targets
