Anybody had any success planting Buckwheat in the summer for deer. Do they use it? Everything I have read says that deer will browse it and that it has a pretty good protein percentage. Located in SE Alabama on the edge of the Blackbelt. Soils are sandy loam.

Easy to grow, deer eat it, let it go to seed - mow it and you’ll get 3-4 crops a year with good moisture
