Where is the best place around the Elmore tri county area for pelletized lime?

Try Prattville Farm Center in Prattville Ala if you are looking for it in a bag. If you want it bulk, you will have to find a co-op outside of Elmore County

I appreciate it buddy. I always did Tractor supply or Lowes, was wondering if there was a cheaper place

I bought a pallet full a couple weeks ago.
Which is 70 bags for 445.
MPM feed&seed in Prattville.

NOW -- It takes months for the pellet lime to do its job

Best price I've found recently is at Lowes. If you buy 10 or more bags, it's about $4.50/40 lb bag

That's where I got it the last time I did it

Just FYI, pelletized lime works quickly if put out and disced/tilled in. Several members can attest to this. I've always limed, seeded and fertilized at the same time for fall plots and it's worked out great. We actually did an experiment once, where we purposely did not lime a plot that was always loaded with deer. We then limed a plot that was 500 yards away which we hadn't seen many deer. The deer activity flipped to the limed plot that year. So I'm a true believer that the deer traveled farther for sweeter tasting forage.

Just spread 480# I bought from lowes. Gonna get about two more loads that size in the next few weeks.

I don’t disc anymore. I just spread it into the standing grass and weeds on my plots.

If you just throw out without disking, that is fine, but you need to do it months before you plant. Takes awhile to dissolve when you just throw it out. I put out 19 tons two years ago the first week of May and didn't disk fields til Sept. Had good fields and even better a year later.

That's about 1/3 acre. It depends on soil type and current ph. I just limed a 1/2 acre plot. Soil test came back at 5.6 ph. It's a sandy clay loam. Soil test recommended 1875 lbs/acre of lime, about 940 lbs for 1/2 acre
