Planting this late?

Planting this late? - 11/15/19 12:16 PM

I have been doing little of nothing for food plots in the past. This year I got oats, wheat, and a few extras to plant. I plant behind a farmer when he gets his crop out and he’s over a month later this year. It’s looking like lows in the 40s and high around 60 next week. Is it reasonable to still plant or has it gotten too cold? I’m new to all of this so I didn’t want to waste my seed before asking here about it. I plant by broadcasting if that makes a difference.

Up your seeding rates as it gets later but yes still fine to plant. Well still have warm spells ahead

I picked up an extra spot last year last week of dec. Planted it Jan 2 and it did great.

You could probably plant now, but I wouldn't wait much later.

I pushed a dove field right before we got that 10-12” of rain and cold. I’m going to plant wheat and rye this weekend. It’ll grow, but I’m just doing it for erosion mainly.

I just finished planting the last of my wheat today. Then changed over and started doing more cover crop acres in rye. The wheat will be for harvest next June. Food plots will still be fine.

Same here. We wrapped up wheat planting at noon today. Then ran several more cover crop tenders out to the field. It’ll be alright
