Bulk Fertilizer Prices

Called today and got fertilizer prices. I was quoted 481/ton for 17-17-17 and 431/ton on 19-13-13. Is that about right? High? Stupid high? Price did include buggy use.

That's high for bulk. Scruggs here has triple 17 for $10.50/bag. You numbers would make it $12/bag. I'd certainly expect bulk to be cheaper.

If you're gonna use bulk, soil test. No sense in using a triple same number unless you have evidence you need it.

All depends on what is used to make it. Scruggs bagged fert is using urea as the N source. Which will be some cheaper. Does the bulk blend have any sulfur? Which will be better than plain urea. Or is it made it Am Nitrate? Lot of variables come it to play when pricing Fertilizer. And he’s getting to use a very expensive buggy.

Like 257 said. If you are getting bulk blend it to your soul test. No need for paying for something you don’t need. And have them work out all of the filler. That 17-17-17 rem270 is talking about will have some filler. Because it’s made with all urea for the N source. Now then if you have some with Am nitrate it will be very little to none. Or if it is a 17-17-17-5s it won’t have any.

Also another thing is the fertilizer market has went up a lot in the past 30 days especially the Nitrogen market.

They did say the 19-13-13 had no filler. Believe he said they couldn’t do triple 13 because it was mostly filler so they did 19-13-13 instead

I have managed an inside deal on triple 13 this year for $8.80 a bag.
