Digging up my clover - 10/31/17 02:04 PM
I have a little quarter ac plot that I planted in crimson clover. It does not get enough light, so it did not get very thick, but did germinate pretty good. I checked on it today and the deer have not only over browsed it, but literally dig the ground up to get it all. It looks like somebody drug a drag through the plot.

Are you sure you don't have an armadillo plowing it up? And it may only be deer. I've watched deer pull it up and have clover hanging out both sides of it's mouth.

I do have armadillos and that's certainly a possibility, but the tracks look like deer have literally been pawing at the ground.
It's not for lack of acorns. We are loaded down with acorns.

Wild hogs have started rooting mine up. They dig trenches through it. I hope we can get them away from our plots.

Sounds like I'm going to be armadillo hunting. They have destroyed this little field.

Those little guys are hard to get rid of and usually come out at night.
Good luck on the hunt.

Go to a Co-op and ask if there is something you can spread on your field to get rid of them that want harm your field .
