Tru Talker I am about tired of you running me and my club down. You have no clue what you are talking about. I am down sizing due to issues you have no clue about. Instead of running your mouth off on a blog call me and let's talk this out like adults not kids. Just like last time you were spreading lies about me and my club. You are a joke and have no idea what it takes to run and manage a good club.

why don't you call me and we can discuss your problems with me instead of being a child on a blog!!!!!!!

Tru-Talker you are an idiot. The issue is I have a 3yr old at home and my wife works every other weekend. I am working in north Alabama so the drive and the kid have cut my hunting in half. That is why I am down sizing .

If you don't have anything else better to do than act like a 3yr old on this blog than I think you need to be put in a time out or you need a good spanking.

for everybody that looks at Aldeer. Deep South is a good club with a good group of guys. please don't let some idiot that has nothing better to do than sit at his computer and type lies about me or my club.

I will be more than happy to talk to anybody that has a question about Deep South or the way it is run. It is not a dictatorship we vote on all the rules each year in the club meeting, we discuss things in person or over the phone and I don't hide behind a computer. fill free to contact me at anytime 205-365-3111

I am letting it go, with a three year old at home, I am working in north AL and a wife that works every other weekend. my hunting has been cut in half, when my boy gets a little older and can start going with me I may look at picking up the south half again.

Re: club needing members inpickens county - 04/21/14 01:15 PM

Coming from someone who's been there, could it possibly be that this gentlemen downsized his current club and joined another because of the headache that comes with running a larger club? From what I've seen in the past, DSHC has to fill openings every year - as most hunting clubs do. When you consider the time, expense, and headache of getting new members... along with the headache that often comes with trying to keep everyone happy, I can understand a man who says "I'd like to have a smaller club to run"... and also have one where he can say "I'm just a member here - I don't have to deal with issues from members or find new members every year."

I'm guessing no explanation this guy gives is going to hold water with those who are trying to press the issue... once you're convinced someone is a bad person, you're always going to be convinced there are ulterior motives.

Re: club needing members inpickens county - 04/21/14 02:56 PM

Never met the fellow, but it seems like he said he dropped a thousand acres because he has family stuff going on and can't hunt that much so he downsized the property, but then he admits to joining another club too, which conflicts with the previous statement. Again, never met the guy, but usually when someone yells fire, there is at least some smoke in the area and there is some "talking in circles". Either way, hope the guy fills his club and hopefully the new members have a great experience and nobody gets screwed. Good luck fella (s)

You can't win for losing on this site. no matter what I say somebody is going to twist it around and make it bad.

If you have ever ran a GOOD club you know what it takes to keep it up. Keeping up with 2500acres is hard. but being a member of a club with 2500acres is easy. You go down for a couple work days and then you get to scout or work on your own stuff. When you are running a club you don't have free time.

Know your pain... unless someone has been there, most club members have no idea the cost/time associated with running a club. And, sooner or later, you'll tick someone off for one reason or another.

I was in this club this past year. I noticed no problems at all. It is a nice group of guys and a good well managed deer herd. It is a decent family friendly club. I saw none of the problems described in the previous post. I suspect that whoever this TruTalker is has some kind of beef with Eric. He is the first and only person I have ever heard say anything bad about this club. (And yes, I am staying in the club for the next season.)

Not my first post and I was in the club this past year also. Didn't kill much but I was sick the last three weeks of season and didn't hunt one time. Eric is a good guy as far as I know and all the guys I met there were good guys as well. Family friendly club and wish them nothing but the best. I got out this season because I had rather just pay to go on a hunt somewhere and hunt close to home the rest of the year. If anyone joins DSHC and needs a camper I can hook ya up with one that's already there and set up.

Re: club needing members inpickens county - 05/06/14 09:28 AM

I have hunted this club with some previous members. Burton is not being honest about why he downsized the club. Has nothing to do with his family. The fact is everyone left due to the lack of deer. At one point it was an ok club but due to some bad seeds in the club it no longer is. Some guy and his wife shoot everything they see. I've heard rumors about what they do during the week when no one is there. Don't let the false advertising fool you. Summer plots have NOT been planted in many years. I believe they do vote on rules as a club but they're not really enforced. I personally heard Burton say he was going to shoot a spike the next day cause he wanted some meat. SMH!!! I think there's a small fine for shooting young deer but it doesn't go back into the club. It goes into his pocket. So basically he shoots anything he wants with no worries. As do his friends and family. I don't think he's a bad guy. He's just not completely honest about what he's saying.

Re: club needing members inpickens county - 05/06/14 09:26 PM

Rammer jammer I show where all the money in the club goes. I show a cost expense summery each year of how much is spent on spring fields, fall fields, power and water. I also so how much comes in each year from each membership, guest fees, and fines. If you do a good budget you can't cheat, I have been in a club that lies and when I started this club I decided to show everything each year. I don't know of many clubs that do that. As for me putting money in my pocket that's a joke, if you have ever ran a club you would know how much extra a president puts into it, from the gas showing the property, to diesel in the tractor, time spent on the phone. Our dues are $1,300per yr, last year I kept up with everything I do and I spent over $3, 500.

As for me shooting a spike "haha" I don't even need to respond to that.

We did't plant spring fields last year because of weather, I saved that seed and put it in the ground last weekend.

I love hunting and always dreamed of having my on lease so it could be ran right and not hide anything, I don't know what else I can do.

Rammer jammer you don't know me. I am giving up it up because of my family, they come first to me.

People can hide behind a computer and say anything. My name is Eric Burton, I don't lie. I have put my heart, soul and even the end of my finger (moving a camper)into Deep South. It is hard work running a club and not everybody is going to agree. I came on aldeer looking for members I hope everybody will not let the lies that are being said on here turn them from calling me. I have put my name and number on here several times, I can also give you many references. I don't hide and I don't lie. 205-365-3111

Re: club needing members inpickens county - 05/08/14 07:01 PM

There was nothing planted last spring but that wasn't Eric
's fault. If I remember right we tried three different weekends but every time it rains too much to get on the fields. Heck as a member who is getting out I saw how it was run and wasn't upset . The part about the member and wife is in my opinion a complete fabrication. I think I know who you are talking about and you are WRONG. That member did kill one deer under the minimum but he paid his fine and all is well . Personally after hunting there one year I would say that member probably hunts harder than anyone there and does lots more work than almost anyone. I don't know what the deal here is but I didn't see what you talk of? Looks like sour grapes from someone who got booted from the club.

I forwarded this and got and interesting reply. The fact is he has not planted summer fields in 3 to 4 years. Like I said. I don't think he's a bad guy but he's not honest. No one has ever seen what he spends. No power bills. No list of fees and fines taken in and where it goes. Have you? I'm not trying to promote anything on here so what advantage would I have for making up lies? I heard him myself say he was going to kill a spike cause he wanted some meat. Just saying what I know and what I've heard. Sorry but when I read this post I couldn't just bite my tongue. Too many people exaggerate their clubs to be better than they actually are on here.

You have never been to one of my club meetings so you don't know what I/we do. If any body wants to see receipts or power bills I have them. I keep everything just for guys like you that want to call me a liar.

As for the spike thing I may have been joking when I said that but I have not shot a buck that was under 3 1/2 years old in ten years. I work to hard to manage our club to go out there and kill a spike for meat THAT IS JUST STUPID!!!!!

How about this no matter what is said about me, other members or my club. Deep South is not going anywhere. Aldeer used to be a good forum. Just like fishingforbuck asked for 1 member with a list of requirements, everybody on here bashed him. He knows what he is looking for and y'all have nothing else better to do then make jokes. I hope real men/hunters will make their own choices and not let these kids on here influence them. Not just about my club but about others on here as well.
