Looking for deer lease. - 05/22/22 04:11 AM

I am looking for a deer lease between Greenville, Evergreen, Andalusia, and Troy. Somewhere in that loop is good. 250 to 450 acres is good. This will be my Dad and I plus a few guys for a week or so.

Bump. Would be willing to look further out and either bigger or smaller land. We don't turkey hunt either.

Man you can get a ton of them right now on Basecampleasing . Mostly in Lauderdale County but one right here in my neck of the woods in Marion Cty. Great price too. shocked

Pretty sure Imbedwetter probably leased up those Lauderdale tracts and is filling his Pickup bed with deer as we speak, but heck check them out. Its worth a shot.

Prime leases in the CWD area. No limit, heck is there even a season? Year round hunting? Heck of a deal.

Still looking close to Andalusia. Could go for 200 to 600 acres. Willing to take on a turkey only member if someone only wants to turkey hunt.

If you may be interested in a club. I have 3 memberships available in Demopolis with camp house. 1027 acres with a total of 8 members. We only shoot mature deer.

I appreciate the offer Earl. I used to live in Demopolis when I coached there. Hunting is outstanding. With my work schedule and two young children, I can't pull that off right now. With those numbers and location, you should have no problem.

I will adjust to say that I would be open to about any size land. I wish I could find a unicorn where the land is private owned by someone who wants their land taken care of, things to be left better than I found it, and someone I could develop a friendship with. I would bring them deer meat if they like it, if it is an elderly person I would help keep a watch out on their property etc.

^^^^^

I’d had three pieces of land that a buddy and I ‘managed’ for the landowners for 15-20 years. Primarily for turkey and waterfowl rights, but made for good deer hunting and we had all the rights. This included enrollment in federal programs for land such as CRP, WRP, etc. building ponds, stands, mulching, planting, farming leases, etc….that all benefitted the landowners pocket, the value of the land, AND made good hunting for us over the years. All three were either sold out from under us, leased out from under us by big $, or other issues….within a short period of time. We had a good run, but in the end, it was just like having a lease with no renewal guarantees. All our efforts benefitted others. I’d probably do it again, in the right setup, but I’d rather buy and just make a land note payment, and join a club here or there.

I had a situation where I got a lease cheap because a creek and Gulley had washed out access. I built a bridge since they said they were not going to. Then the next year they doubled the price because it now had access. I kept it one more year, then they sold the only entrance. This was a timber company. I will say it was worth it to me because I enjoy it and got to do it with my Dad.

I would have burned that bridge on the way out!

Knowing my luck it would have gotten out of hand I would have owed them money.
