Back Waters Hunting Club

Looking to maybe join. Located in Coosa county around Lay Dam. Does anyone have info they would be willing to share about this club? I want good and bad!

Great area for turkeys. not so much for deer. Have never hunted this particular club but I hear more bad than good

apparently there’s a code you have to use to get relevant results to any search.

Used the Search function above and searched for "Ragan", then looked at the bottom of three threads returned. Took 2 minutes.

That’s good for you. Doesn’t return anything for me. It’s always been sketchy on returns. I’ve even searched my own posts and gotten only partial results.

Apparently only doecommander has a good understanding of the search feature

I was in it for one year YEARS ago. It sucked!! Did not see a single deer on the place. Eagan and his buddies shot everything that moved. He would park his truck on a high ridge in a cutover, throw rocks in the bottoms, and shoot whatever jumped up. Pulled up to the camp one day and he had two with visible spots hanging. Saw several instances of members back then smoking weed. They also had a guy that died in a camper fire a year or two after I got out. I left and hunted Southeastern HC across the road. A world of difference. Killed several nice bucks from there and a pile of turkeys. Stay away from Back Waters!!

You no longer need to use the Search function. I was in it the year the guy died in the camper fire. It had something to do with being intoxicated and trying to light the gas lights in the camper. I also saw spots on the meat pole. Their saying was "if it's mostly brown, its down".

Two years after the fire here. I did kill a nice buck and bugger up another but I hunted a lot at that time.

I killed the biggest buck of my life on that club, and was the only deer I saw all year.
