Possum Creek Hunting Club Openings - 03/25/21 07:20 PM

We have a few open spots available for the 2021-2022 hunting season. We're a family-oriented trophy hunting club located in the Suttle community of Perry County. The club is ran by a President and a Board of Directors who are all very engaged. Many may think "family-oriented" and "trophy" don't go together, but we do and we work very hard at achieving both of those ideals. It's the DNA of the club. We're not perfect, but we work very hard at maintaining a best-in-class southern hunting camp where memories can be made and good mature bucks can be harvested.

Some facts on our club are as follows:

* Nice/modern Clubhouse with Available Bunks
* Camper Spots (limited number)
* 4 1/2 Year Old Bucks or Better
* Trophy Managed for Over A Decade
* 4,000 Acres with 20 Members (200 acres per member)
* No Hogs
* Turkey Rights Included
* Over 50 Food Plots
* Well Maintained Shooting Houses (most 4 x 6 or larger)

If you're interested and want more information, please send an e-mail to: possumcreekhunting@gmail.com. We'll be happy to answer any question and direct you to our online membership application form.

How many trophy bucks did y’all kill last season

Re: Possum Creek Hunting Club Openings - 03/26/21 12:38 AM

We probably had two or three 4 1/2 year olds harvested last year. We’ve had down years the last couple years in terms of buck harvests. We have plenty of 4 1/2 year olds or better walking around that didn’t get shot this year. We manage our club, our herd, and keep our philosophies with a long-term view.

Was wondering it looked like y’all killed several deer under aged this year.

We've had a few mistakes, and a few experienced hunters that had an opportunity they were proud of. Our standards haven't changed though - our goal is to let them walk until they're 4 1/2. I assume you saw pictures on our Facebook page, so I will say this - we don't cherry-pick what we post. If a buck is harvested, we post it. So, you see the good and the bad. And there's usually a story behind every one.

Someone mentioned the grilling and cooking as shown on Facebook. Well, even famous Chef Emeril Lagasse of New Orleans would be impressed with our facilities and equipment in the roofed Outdoor Kitchen adjacent to the camp house. If it is smoking, grilling, frying, broiling or slow cooking you are looking for, we can do it all. In fact, IMO everything about Possum Creek is impressive. When you compare ALL aspects of a hunting club, Possum Creek should rank well near the top of Alabama clubs. One very important factor figures in that statement....It starts and ends with Strong and Knowledgeable Management. We have it. I eagerly look forward to my sophomore year!

This looks like a non golfers Country Club. It also looks like a place I would like my children introduced to hunting and outdoor recreation.

For what it’s worth, I know a handful of members and I know several former members as well and I have never heard any of them say anything bad about this club.

The cahaba river is 1/2 mile from camp. Good fishing and or canoeing. And Selma and Marion are just 15 mins away, which is very handy.

Met a guy who knows the place while turkey hunting down on the Alabama/Mississippi line a couple of days ago. He wasn't at all positive. He said lot of people left over last 2 seasons, poor deer herd with no real trophy bucks shot, fields were poor plus they had increased the fees and reduced the hunting area by over 1000 acres for the coming year. Not sure if this is true but he said look at there facebook page to see what had been shot.

A guy who works for me is in this club. He has nothing but good things to say about it. Camp is clean. Fun atmosphere.

Re: Possum Creek Hunting Club Openings - 04/07/21 02:54 AM

Did you happen to see the size of the deer that the guy talking negatively was holding in the pictures?? If they weren’t big enough why did He shoot em??

We have had a couple rough years because about 6 years ago an influx of members came in shooting a lot of bare minimum bucks to the tune of 77 in 3 years. So yeah it’s been down a little. But we are working to improve that. Hardest working club you will find.

One of the nicest setups around. Leases go up every year. We finally had to increase the dues to cover the cost. You know just common sense stuff.

Good club. I was in it for several years. Job and family situation changed my free time is the only reason I got out. Good guys and good food. Definitely a family atmosphere.

Nice place, I tracked a deer over there few years ago, Art Powers was out of town and sent me the track, on my way in I passed a rather odd setting. I was riding about 8pm and noiced all these cars and lights in a field. There were folks dressed up like medieval knights and such fighting with toy swords and shields. I get the to meeting spot for the hunters and asked what the heck did I just witness, They laughed and said we wondered what you were gonna think riding in.

They are called Larpers - Live Action Role Playing. They get together and pretend that it's a thousand years ago and they all take on a role. The only action I've seen them doing is sword fighting with wooden swords. There has got to be something going on that I am missing. No sane person would do this unless there is something more to it.

Possum Creek is a great club.

I think I recognized one of the participants. He lives in a certain building on a certain street downtown. I scrolled their FB page to get a look. Shirtless dude on that page as you scroll down. I think you know who I’m talking about.
I apologize to Possum Creek for adding to the nonsense when looking for members. It’s a good club and I know the spots will be filled regardless. Maybe some of the LARPERS will join so they can be close to the action.
