baldwin county club

any info on a club in baldwin county for next season with deer and turkeys would appreciated. just moved down here and i need somewhere to hunt close enough I can hunt while I'm home

Wish could help. Lived here my whole life and haven't found it yet. Small deer and very few turkeys. Good luck!

Southside or Carney are good clubs in North Baldwin County. Both have big deer and a ton of turkeys.

Carney is an invitation club only, you don’t just call and get in when they have an opening from my understanding.

SouthSide might be a possibility for getting in or on a list..... but it won’t be for turkeys.

You are better off looking to drive 90+ miles to get to decent turkey hunting that I’ll be able to join as a club or lease.

If the river stays down, it might be an option, but good luck with that too.

The days of being able to search for a turkey lease on an Alabama or Mississippi hunting forum are just about gone for hunters on the southern end of those 2 states I’m afraid.

I guess 'big deer" is in the eye of the beholder. 160-170 lb, 100" average mature deer arent my idea of big. "Tons" of turkeys is also relative to the person talking about it. I promise, in comparison to where Turkeymaster is moving from, both southside and carney dont hold a candle to it.

BUT, you're correct, they are about as good as it gets around here. However, neither are realistic possibilities.

You would be much better off getting in one of the La Floresta clubs on the FL side. They have been managing for several years and kill good deer in several of their clubs, turkey hunting is pretty good (but not like areas of South Alabama)

Some of the better clubs in Walnut Hill are TNT, Buckeye Branch, North Pineville, River Pasture. There are a couple members on here, maybe they can chime in on waiting lists.

Look here! We all want the same thing now we need to just start a club or lease! LOL but I am looming for something in this region as well preferably in Baldwin County

Just have to know the right people. No disrespect Jstock but southside has a ton of turkeys , granted I haven't hunted on that property in 5 years. Yes, turkey master size is in the eye of the beholder. Carney has 14" inside spread minimum and southside has 13" inside minimum. I have seen several 130-140"s come off both clubs every year. There's land to lease around Stockton. Hard to find and get but doable. Gotta meet people where they live and work. You might be surprised if you buy home goods from small farms in the area. It's worked for me.

I never stated that SouthSide didn’t have turkeys. I wouldn’t know, I’ve never hunted it.

What I did say was that a new member won’t be able to join for turkey hunting. Unless they’ve changed their policies, there’s a wait list for turkeys within the membership.

I have hunted large acreage of private property to the north of SouthSide. I’ve definitely hunted areas of the South that have less of a population of turkeys, but I can assure by my standards that the properties in this area aren’t “loaded” with turkeys.

There are pockets of turkeys in Baldwin County. It is possible to get in leases where you may find populations to keep you busy for close by hunting. It will be somewhat difficult to find, and some places are hit or miss. This is not like the areas you are used to hunting.

Don’t listen to Teamduckdown. He probably knows less about deer than he does turkeys.

I grew just a couple miles down the road from the Southside property. The property used to be owned by Container. Just wanted to comment on the turkey hunting and population of turkeys on the Southside property. For decades there was absolutely no turkey hunting allowed on thousands of acres of the Container property that is now part of Southside. I am not a turkey hunter but I consider the turkey population to be high on Southside. I have seen anywhere from 70 to 80 turkeys just riding down the 12 mile long main road from Lottie to Tensaw. If I was a turkey hunter Southside would be a club I would consider. I would pass on joining Southside to deer hunt because of various factors including too much pressure from hunters, timber cutting all the time and during hunting season, adjoining dog huntings clubs that will have lost dogs roaming on Southside all during deer season, and allowing fox hunters and coyote hunters to run there dogs on property at night but this is not allowed during deer season. Southside property has a ton of potential for deer hunting but some of the issues just need to be addressed and eliminated to further the property’s potential.

The waiting list for turkeys on Southside would be a long one.
For deer, I have never seen a lost dog and do not think I have ever heard dogs running close by in the last three years.
I have had no issues and have enjoyed the time there. There are roughly 40 deer members on close to 10k acres, so finding a place to hunt has never been an issue.
