Pickens county hunting club - 04/02/18 06:12 PM

We are looking for a few quality members to be a part of a no drama 2000 acre lease that we have been given the opportunity to lease. This property has the genetics to produce some quality deer if managed properly. We have around 25 established fields with shooting houses on most at the moment. We will have houses on every field by start of season. Land consists of fresh cutover, different stages of pines, hardwood drains, and creek bottoms. Creek borders the east and south property lines.
Wives and kids( dependent kids ) hunt under your membership. We have a campsite on the property with power and water and spots to put campers. Our goal is to shoot 3 1/2 year old or better bucks. We are surrounded by people who also share that same goal. Turkey rights are included and we have a couple of guys who turkey hunt only.

Membership will be capped at 15 @ $1700 apiece. That includes planting and water but doesn’t include power.

At the moment we have a basic set of rules in place that protect the goals of the club. When the memberships are full we will vote on the rest as a club. Like I said we aren’t here for the drama. We are are here to hunt deer on a good piece of property that has the potential to produce some really nice bucks. PM me for more info. Serious inquiries only please.

Was wondering if the land used to be part of the Square Top club, but it’s a few more miles up 159. Very good genetics in that area. I killed this one back in 2010 with my bow probably about 5 or 6 miles northwest as the crow flies from your spot. If I wasn’t already committed to another lease down towards Pickensville, I’d be talking to you. Sounds like it’s going to be a good set up.

It will be a very good setup. The property has tons of potential. I’m really looking forward to seeing what we can do with this place. But if you’re ever looking for a spot just holler at me. Never know when a spot may open up.

I think you used to hunt not far from where we’re located. About 2 miles south of the crossroads from the old 5 shot club? Good genetics from benevola to Fayette

The Westervelt land we had leased used to be part of 5 shot. My parents and uncle owned land next to it that we hunted as well. That buck came off my uncle’s land.

I am in charge of the ole square top club. We have 800 acres right now and only 5 paying members. I may be looking for one member but right now we are wanting to keep it the way it is.. Deer Ridge got most of the lease when square top busted up and is still managed by the same person. The deer hunting in this area is great the terrain can be tuff to navigate sometimes but overall we've had good success. I also live right at mile marker 10 on 159 a little advice watch for poachers they run rapid around this area everybody who hunts or lives in this area can call the them by name but we never can seem to get ahead of them.

Me and a buddy had a turkey lease in that area 5-7 years ago and the poaching thing is spot on. There was a guy on a neighboring property who would stand on a high ridge and hoot for the 1st hour of the morning while his buddy would sneak into a gobbling bird and try to bushwhack him. One particular morning it backfired terribly on them... my buddy was able to easily get on the gobbling bird and killed him shortly after daylight. After the gunshot, the dude on the hill kept on hooting and my buddy shouted "hey - he's dead... you can stop hooting now!". Needless to say the dude stopped hooting.

Must be just right around there. Thankfully we haven’t had an issue with anyone poaching. Not saying it can’t happen but we have been lucky so far.

New guy here, just moved to AL, 3 months ago from NC to take a new job with the City of Hoover. I am looking for a place to hunt or to possibly join a hunt club. If you still are looking for members, reach out to me and lets discuss it.

Re: Pickens county hunting club - 04/10/18 01:58 AM

Thought I would provide a little input on this Pickens County Club. We have a lease 2 miles south of this property. I used to hunt the property that actually joins this club until I got my own lease. This Is a fantastic area to hunt. The genetics are really good and deer and turkey population is getting better and better! If anyone is looking for a great area to hunt and have opportunities for trophy deer I highly recommend it.
