30 year old hunting club in Lee/Macon/Russell... - 03/14/17 11:07 AM

Looking for some members. 25 total members on 3,000 acres. 2,400 acres surrounds the provided RV campsite with pavilion/firepit. Another 600 acre tract is up the road in a Russell County spot that has a long history of great genetics. The campground tracts are off Macon County Road 22 which is a short distance from Big Swamp where many of George Mann's record book bucks were taken.

This is a family oriented club and guests are allowed for a $50 per day fee. There are currently no antler restrictions. The membership covers deer, turkey, and hogs however no spin feeders or corn piles are allowed to avoid extra hog rooting. There will be a club supplied corn gravity feeder program for 2018 to hold higher numbers of deer. Dues are $2,170 which includes the corn program and 40 planted food plots as well as the campground, skinning shed, and deer cooler. Utilities are paid based on usage so members pay what they use and not for somebody else's usage.

The key is the fact that these properties have been leased for 30 years - lots of stability versus "fly by night" hunting clubs that pop up. Call Don at 334-357-4744 if you are interested.

Do you have any trail camera pictures?
What is the approximate average age of members?
Do most members live in the Lee County area?
Are there box blinds?

I own the club but do not hunt it so I really haven't accumulated trail cam pics. Members range from 35 to 70 but most in the 40-55 range. No. No box blinds yet but I am in the hunting industry as a profession and can get all metal box blinds with glass windows really low cost. This year's project is the gravity feeders. We can entertain adding box blinds as next year's project.

For this kind of money, you should really consider making this an 8pt or better club. A lot more people would be interested.

Great thing about the web is that you can get advice without even asking for it.

I like it. I'd rather kill a 3-4 yr old 6pt then a 2.5 yr old 8.

So I guess you "like" spikes being killed too huh? People will shoot any and every deer when there are no restrictions on what can be harvested.

Your club, your dues. Make it whatever you want and anyone who doesn't like it can go elsewhere. Sounds like an enjoyable place to hunt.

Never said i liked to see spikes shot. But point restrictions are just as bad if not worse than shooting spikes in a way. Allowing 1 1/2-2 1/2 year old 8s is taking your best bucks out while allowing more undesirable racks to live and breed.
