Jackson County Hunting Club looking for 4 members - 08/17/16 07:36 AM

235 acre hunting club located in Paint Rock Valley looking for 4 members. We are currently working on adding 150 more acres that joins our property. This is a year round lease. Includes squirrel, deer, and turkey. Also has creek access so you can fish too. Has a cabin with electricity. Cabin has a stove, fridge, and bunk beds. 4 existing food plots. 30 acres of crop fields in creek bottoms that are alternated between corn and soy beans from year to year. Rules are 8 point or better and must be a mature deer. We ask that you kill one doe just to practice good deer management. There is also a lot of ducks that use our creeks that you are welcome to hunt. We have tractors and bulldozers to maintain roads and food plots. I had some guys back out that were suppose to hunt with me this year and we urgently need members. If interested call 256-656-9035 and ask for Tysce Green.

Is this based on camera surveys, a biologist coming in to help, DMAP, etc., or something else?

What are annual dues? Thanks.

Is this the Leverel Green property?

Is the club acreage in the river bottom or on the mountain(s). I'm pretty much restricted to flat land vs mountains that require 4-wheelers for access. Also, what are your annual fees/requirements? Thanks.

How long have you had this place?

I know the last group of guys that had the lease. How many guests is a member allowed to bring and do those same rules apply to you as well?

Why did those guys back out?

Re: Jackson County Hunting Club looking for 4 members - 08/28/16 08:34 AM

The lease was taken from the last group AFTER bow season had opened and AFTER food plots were planted and fertilized. They were reimbursed for lease fee, seed and fertilizer but it was a shitty way to treat a good group of guys by the nonpaying grandson of the property owner. Showing up opening day of bow season with 2 or 3 'guests' (which was against a gentleman's verbal agreement with all members) was a good indicator that it was going to an eventful season.

The particular group of members that I speak of had the place for 2 seasons but a couple had been there for several years. The grandfather was paid directly by the members with the agreement that the grandson hunted for free. Just him. Paying members could bring 1 guest. 1st season the grandson brought 2 or 3 guests at various times in violation of the agreement and he was confronted about it. Last year he brought 2 on opening morning of bow season in a flagrant violation of the agreement and was confronted at the barn. Within a couple of weeks his grandfather contacted the club president and called a group meeting to refund the lease money, seed and fertilizer money and told them to get all their stands down and be gone. So the guys had already put in a lot of hard work on the plots, put up ladder stands, etc and now don't have a place to hunt. The surrounding land gets hunted hard so the buck restriction and 'management' idea is a far fetched pipe dream.

Anybody that joins this 'club' does so with the very high risk of being screwed around in similar fashion. And FWIW, I think the grandfather is a real good man. He just got manipulated by his grandson who is the one that started this thread.

Sadly, that's a lot of the norm for Jackson county.

Man what a change of direction this thread took. When things sound too good to be true, they usually aren't. Thank goodness Aldeer comes to the rescue again. Seems episodes like this are getting all too common these days.
