Maxwell Mountain Hunting Club - 08/02/16 11:09 AM

for the guys currently in this club, have some good deer been taken off of this property in the recent years? it looks like some great property.

I'm new to the club and have been scouting the area for 2 months now. I've found several rather large rubs ( 4" to 5" ) that look to be 2-3 years old. The old bucks ain't using the areas anymore ... my bet is someone shot them.

I went ahead and joined the club this weekend. it seems to have a ton of potential if taken seriously by members. ive grown up hunting PRV and I know of the caliber of deer that are hardly ever seen that roam those mountains in that area. I wont be shooting any young deer and hopefully that is how the majority of members are. Im looking forward to learning the property.

Re: Maxwell Mountain Hunting Club - 08/02/16 12:06 PM

Rules require 110" for first buck and 125" for second and third so hopefully nobody will be shooting young uns ...

Glad to hear you joined, my rig is a blue Tundra Crew max and I pull a 8x10 trailer with a Honda Rancher ... look for me, would like to meet you. Also, the first camper at the campground is mine, the popup with the 16x16 wood deck and roof overhead

I sure hope it goes that way, I will be in a silver and black jeep rubicon. Have you ran across any of those big rattlers yet?

Re: Maxwell Mountain Hunting Club - 08/02/16 12:37 PM

I got a warning from about 15 yards away from one last week. Haven't seen any first hand but I know they are there

Re: Maxwell Mountain Hunting Club - 08/02/16 12:45 PM

yeah there are some big ones around those parts. Have you become pretty familiar with the property yet?

Re: Maxwell Mountain Hunting Club - 08/02/16 01:28 PM

Yeah I've put 200 miles on my ATV there plus countless yards on foot. It just takes time

Re: Maxwell Mountain Hunting Club - 08/02/16 10:35 PM

I actually joined a few months ago. For a place for me and my 12yr old to hunt. I think we met rocket62. I will be in a camouflage teryx and grey dodge. We picked up a truck camper we plan to put in the camping area soon also. I'm planning on getting out there in 2 weeks and do some more scouting of the area. Alot of potential.

I met a guy and his son up there about a month ago, they were in a SxS coming down the main logging road. I was picking blackberries ... I told him to check out aldeer.com and join up ... Was that you?

Not as rugged as Pelham , very gentle , prolly easiest whitetail hunting you'll ever do.

Truth! This is a great place for those that just wanna take it easy and slay a buncha deer!
No need for a baiting license either, use all the bait you want and don’t worry, Mr. Green Jeans doesn’t bother with this area
