I asked Matt about some of that land some time ago; I don't think it is a club.

It's not a club nor has any openings. It's owned by private individuals who take their hunting serious. It got abused years ago when the landowners generously gave out a few permits and they revoked them. It is a fun place to hunt however.

Yeah man the Haneys hunt across 65 and kill some big deer. My guess is this property holds some of the same deer.and I always see deer when going down 65. Heck and that what it's all about me and my son seeing deer. He just loves to hunt and I enjoy seeing him shooting a good deer.

I know for a fact about a 170+ 18 pt killed on Pryor land 2 years ago. leased by Brent Shaw now. He ownes Shaw farms. I have said it on here before, and Haneys have great land as well. Southern Limestone County or those 5- 10 farms is as good as Anyplace in South Bama.

People would never believe the size or numbers of deer around there.

Re: Tanner land - 02/10/16 06:25 PM

Probably just a handful of people get to hunt it,lucky dogs. Real light pressure and select shooting.look at all the crops around it. A deer can get really big eating the right groceries. I'd almost rival that area with the black belt.

Re: Tanner land - 02/10/16 08:25 PM

I grew up in the "black belt". It doesn't have crap on dogwood flats.

I bet I saw close to 50 deer between I565 and Huntsville Browns Ferry today on my way home

Well, should be plenty of poachers running around that area now.

Naw. Land is watched very close by some people that will go all out to bust some ass.

Re: Tanner land - 02/11/16 07:30 AM

there are deer there because the land owners don't kill every doe that steps out and most of them only kill mature bucks. But that has nothing to do with the numbers of quality according to most folks on here.

With all that swamp it might be. That is some real nice hunting land for sure.
Those big bucks like that wet swampy stuff as much as water mocs I think.

Do y'all really have a snake shoot or are you joking? A buddy of mine back home in MS had a 40 acre lake on a farm that was slap loaded with water snakes. We'd go fishing at night and kill 30-40 snakes with shotguns and a spotlight. Tons of fun!

Hell yes we have shoots. Half case of BUsch light 410 with #8's and a few Polaris Rangers. I put pics of our kills up a few years ago. Good ole fun in dogwood flats in July
