Hunting Leases in Baldwin County? - 09/22/15 07:21 AM

I am moving from Carrollton, Georgia to the Gulf Shores area and I am looking to find a place to deer hunt in Baldwin County if available. I am interested in Hunting Clubs that are family friendly as well as WMA's. Does anyone have any recommendations?

WMA's are plentiful and close. Perdido River is good (I hear) if you know what you're doing. WL Holland in the Delta has lots of hogs. South of I65 is almost all boat access (the little that's walk in is pressured pretty heavy) and N of 65 has ducks as well as hogs and some deer.

Neither are great for TROPHY potential, depending on your standards but are large acreage properties. Several large hunting clubs in the area. Buddy of mine is in one west of CR 87 and N of I10. I can ask if they have openings but it's $2500 or better a year and run like a FL club (private plots and "club" plots).

You're in an area where there's a lot of hunters and a LOT of disposable income. Anything within 2 hours of the coast will be expensive as **** if it's any good, or will be harder to get into than, well, never mind.

2.5-3 hours N of the coast is where deer start to get bigger and leases more reasonable, until you get to the "Black Belt". Good luck.

There is also some public land in Lillian that don't get a lot of pressure, but it is extremely thick and hard to hunt. However, there are some really good deer on it.
It's shotgun with slug, bow, or muzzleloader only though.

Look up Forever Wild property on outdoor alabama.

If you have a boat, the delta would probably be your best bet. You may not see many deer, but you would almost certainly have fun with hogs.
If you do have a boat, send me a private message and I'll point you to some areas on the lower delta that I know have deer.

Thank you RobertD. I am going to check out the Perdido River WMA since I do not have a boat currently. I will keep looking around for a lease under $1500 but for now I may just try some of the WMA areas.

Thank you scrubbuck for the information. I will check out the Forever Wild information. I do not mind hard to hunt and would love a good bow hunting area so I will check them out.

Drive the 2 hours to the Conecuh National Forest and Blue Spring WMA. One of the best public lands in the state in my opinion is the NF. Plus it is state season out there.
