Ok, so I'm new to th Alabama region. I am from Maryland. My old lady's family has some property in Macon county and I was curious as to if that area has a decent population of feral hogs. Was considering taking a trip down for turkey and pigs but don't know if it's really worth my time. It's a long drive and a lot of gas money so any help any of you could provide would mean a lot. Thanks.

In Monroe county, the odds are more in favor of having hogs on any particular tract of land than not having them.

Sweet awesome to hear that. Always wanted to shoot one. Any recommendations on how to hunt them as far as spot and stalk or bait, etc. appreciate the help. Means a lot.

Might try hitting hawgwild or one of those guys up on the pig forum. They would prob be able to get you some info.

They are blind as hell but can smell great. Stay downwind from them and hunt the food sources in the evening/morning.

Depending on how long you are going to be down here. If you can go ahead and mix you up 3-4 5 gallon buckets of corn to sour before you arrive it would be worth your time. Mix you some corn, water yeast and grape koolaid together, fill bucket 3/4 full of corn and cover with water add other stuff and cover. Try to stir it every other day or say. If it sours and it will hogs love.

I have hunted the area for years. Good deer in the area too. Muzziehead has good advise. More hogs if you are close to a river or good creek system. Might consider using a post hole digger and dig as deep as you can, fill with corn and load up with water. let it set a few days and they will find it.
