Custom 257 Roberts Ackley Improved (Rem Custom Shop XP-100 solid bottom action)

I'm trying to help my brother in law with this sale. He builds guns on his own - he is incredibly talented - but he needs some money for the Holidays to buy gifts for his kids, and so he's selling his baby. He lives in Piedmont. Here is what he told me about this rifle:

Here's a picture of the gun I built as my perfect deer gun. It took almost two years to finish it. I have over 1500 in just the stock alone. This stock is the only one in the world built by hand to my specs. It's presentation grade walnut. The action is a Remington custom shop XP -100 solid bottom. It's a 257 Roberts Ackley Improved from McGowan. I had Robar to plate it in NP-3. It's like 10 Times more resistant to corrosion than stainless steel. I'm going to have to sell it if you know anyone that might be interested. The details I've listed here are not even half of all the work in it. Too much to text. I hate to sell, and I know it's going to be a huge loss compared to what I have in it. I would take 1500 if you know someone.

Any ammo come with it? Can you buy that ammo or is it reload only. I know you can get 257 roberts.

I know that B-I-L loads his own ammo. I'll ask him if he plans to throw some in with the deal - I imagine that's his plan but I hate to speak for him. I'll post more information after I speak with him later.

You can shoot standard .257 Roberts in a Ackley chamber. That's actually how you make (form) the Ackley brass.
Sweet rifle. Very tempting, but I've swore off buying anymore safe queens.

Got this update: It has a McGowan 24 inch barrel with a 10 twist. I chambered it in 257 Roberts Ackley Improved with a tight no turn neck. I did it this way so even someone who doesn't reload can still use store bought factory loaded 257 Roberts ammo. When you fire standard 257 Roberts ammo in the gun, it blows the brass out to 257 Ackley Improved. I also have dies I'll let go with it. You can use them to reload the fire formed brass back as the 257 Ackley round. The stock is unbelievable. Even the barrel channel is fitted to the barrel contour with no gap anywhere the entire length.

You might have better luck putting this on 24hourcampfire.com. Beautiful rifle for sure. They will want ALL the specs on 24 though.

I haven't asked that question, so I'll have to confirm - but that is not my understanding.

I believe it does contain a magazine - just not a drop magazine. Now, I'm going to have to confirm that, though.
