My son needs a very small shotgun & I'm pretty sure this is the smallest/lightest shotgun out there. I know it's a long shot, but does anybody have one to sell/trade or seen one at shop somewhere? I know it's a terrible time to be searching for a specific gun; I can't find one in stock online anywhere.

Nice, first ones I've found anywhere yet. I'll have to keep GB in mind.

In an ideal world I'd find one in a shop so my son could try holding it. He's a very small 9 year old and even one of these might be too big right now.

We added a pachmayer slip on butt pad to reduce the felt recoil on a 500 mini bantam 20ga slugger. Happy with it. Also there’s a trigger spring kit out there to reduce the trigger pull to about 3.5lbs. We installed that too.

Have you thought about getting one of those yildiz single shots and cutting the stock down, then adding a recoil pad?

I've thought about it. I borrowed a NEF .410 "youth" single shot thinking it would be small/light enough but it's not. It weighs a surprising 7 pounds and has a 22 inch barrel. I've thought about trying to trade for the NEF and cutting it down some.

We're wanting to try busting some clays over Thanksgiving; I'm not sure he's big enough (only 49 pounds) to swing a shotgun, but we're willing to try. Even a 5 pound gun would be 10% of his bodyweight so it might be a bridge too far right now.

He did shoot an appleseed event last weekend with a short barreled .22 rifle I did the paperwork on & made for him and did very well, "passing" their qualification test (harder than you'd think). *Although I kept him in prone for all stages. He's got that .22 rifle that fits him and we've been shooting the Diamond Atomic Bow which is a great bow for kids BTW; once I get this shotgun thing figured out he'll have the complete set.

If you’re ok with a single shot .410 I bought my little boy a Cricket .410 that folds all the way up like a backpacker model. It’s short and light. That’s what he’s going to duck hunt with this year. He handled it great when he was 6
11.75” LOP. 18.5” barrel and only 4.2lbs. It’s not but 32” long overall.

Yildiz single shot is like 3.3 lbs with a 28” barrel. Much better suited for swinging on moving game IMO.
$129 at academy.

Never seen the cricket til now. Both look similar. Looks to be built off old beretta patent.

No luck finding an in-stock crickett right now.

I'll pay a finders fee of a prized box of 30-30 soft points if someone locates a crickett "my first shotgun" at "normal" price.

I have been looking for the same gun for my son for the last 2 months. Simmons and marks both have them on order but could not guarantee they would be here in the next 90 days. Walter Craig in Montgomery had the mossberg youth 505. Little bit longer LOP, but weight is roughly the same so I went with that. They had one more left in stock.
