Deer feeders - 09/28/19 06:14 PM

I was messing around with some metal and made a couple deer feeders. If there’s any interest I will make a few more and sell them. Y’all let me know if y’all want one. One of the ones are built held about 250 pounds of corn. It’s a trough style feeder gravity fed.

I’m guessing around 30-40 lbs, very light.

Those look like great feeders. My only problem is you are on the other side of the state. I imagine you shouldn’t have a problem selling a few of those.

Have you or anyone else tested them against hogs?

We had one out a few years ago with Hogs around. They didn’t seem to mess with it too much but you never know with pigs.

Galvanized sheet? Could you comment on the leg attachment, and how sturdy it is against rocking or racking with a loaded hopper?

It’s very sturdy. Once the feed is in the feeder, it sturdies it up a ton more too. The legs are attached from the sides and the bottom with metal self tapping screws.

Okay. Trying to get a couple last minute leases finished up this coming week. I will probably get several from you if you have any left but have to get a few of these places in writing before ordering feeders.

I'm also interested to hear how one will do around pigs. That's always the deal breaker for me unfortunately

Not real sure, we did have one a few years ago on a piece of land loaded with pigs, it survived. It’s a gravity feeder so they wouldn’t have to mess with it to get the corn out. And it’s about eye level for them so maybe that’s why they didn’t destroy it.
