A ruger that is. 7”+ barrel. Or a smith and wesson 460xvr.
Anyone selling either?

I toted one of these in texas several times instead of my usual lever gun...one of the most powerful recoiling pistol rounds i ever fired...not for the timid...and a show nuff nose buster for those who cant hang on to it...loved it..talk about murkin some critters...it will make you giggle

The recoil on mine isn’t bad at all but as you said if you’re limp wristed it’s not for you when shooting the 460’s .
The 454’s and under are very manageable

Depends on the gun imo. I had a 454 Raging Bull, and that joker was rough on the hand, felt recoil from my Smith 500 was less (too me anyhow) but it also weighs about a pound more.

The weight of the S&W does make a difference and both the 500 & 460 are heavy weights in the pistol arena

The most powerful recoiling gun of any kind , rifles included , was a Freedom Arms model 83 with a 6 inch barrel in 454 Casull. I believe they were Buffallo Bore 300 grainers. In fact, I don't think they even load the 454 to those pressures any more ( this was about 20 years ago). I swear it was like a semi-controlled explosion in your hand. It didn't just hurt a little when you shot it. The dang screws on the gun would back out it was so bad. Contacted Freedom Arms about that and they said it was normal and to just tighten them back up.

If you are wanting to shoot full house loads for the Casull, then weight is your friend. That is a brutal round when you get it warmed up.

The worst I've ever shot anyhow. With a hot load 45 70 coming in 2nd place.

My favorite thing about the pistol..insane knock down power aside was the accuracy..suckers shoot where you pointem..dang near just feel where you want the bullet to go and it goes...laser guided hand cannon😀

To me, the .454 is worse than the .460. The .460 seems to roll a little more where as the .454 is more like it just exploded in your hand.
