Steel Framed Shooting Houses

Steel Framed Shooting Houses - 08/15/16 09:50 PM

Metal studs don't burn, they don't get eaten by termites, and they don't warp in humidity. Or under any other circumstance. Wood frames weigh 60% more. They'll last a lifetime....of the shooting house. Push come to shove, you can scrap it for $20.00.

•R-11 insulated walls keep the sound down. Also keep your Mr. Buddy from freezing up.
• Wrapped with Tyvek to keep humidity down and preserve the insulation.
•It's a vented roof. You're not gonna catch the carbon monoxide.
•I can build a raw frame to your specs if you just want to set it on a platform and finish it out yourself.
•Sealed gaps to keep them warsps out.

If you want plans, PM an email address. If you want to buy one, give me dimensions.

This 4'x4' just got ready to finish. I''ve marked the the bottom rests at 40". The frame alone will run $100. With the specs I listed above, I'll sell it for $350.00

How much would a 4 X 6 6 feet high in the front sloped to the rear run me? Just the frame?

Re: Steel Framed Shooting Houses - 08/16/16 08:23 PM

Those look good. If provided with windows, do you frame in to recieve the window?
Posted By: whack-n-stack

Re: Steel Framed Shooting Houses - 08/16/16 08:25 PM

Still light enough for one man to pick up with the windows in. Might make the roof separate for hauling down the highway.

Nope. Didn't take pictures of the other one. I'll post them on here as I finish this one though.

Re: Steel Framed Shooting Houses - 08/17/16 08:17 AM

Good idea that's how I build mine but, $250 for labor to make some cuts and put in some screws seems excessive to me. That shouldn't take more then an hour to build.
Posted By: whack-n-stack

Re: Steel Framed Shooting Houses - 08/17/16 08:31 AM

Where you gettin $250 from?
Posted By: TwoRs

Re: Steel Framed Shooting Houses - 08/17/16 07:15 PM

If you don't have a positive comment or want to buy them, keep it to yourself, Karl9!
Great price and idea, looking for finished pics from someone...

Speak for yourself. That would take me all day and I'd probably be all cut up from the metal.

I'm a little confused. Are you selling just the frames or do sell a finished shooting house?

I'll frame a 6x6 with the roof trusses for $225. I don't really want to mess with an 8x8 because I don't have a trailer wide enough to hold it

Either one.
Posted By: whack-n-stack

Re: Steel Framed Shooting Houses - 08/17/16 11:14 PM

The roof trusses aren't quite finished. I'm at a stopping point for tonight so I took another picture after the 2' door opening got framed. It's still $100.00 until I put the roofing on tomorrow.

I miss read the bottom part. I I thought you were selling the frame for $350. The last pic you posted shows me what you are talking about and for that $350 is a steel.

So if I think someone might be pulling one over on the rest of the club memebers ( which is not the case here, I was mistaken) I will keep my mouth shut so as not to piss off any of the liberals. I'm out.

Yeah, I've put a little more than an hours work into it too. The roof assembly took 4 hours this afternoon. If I had some help it would take a little less. Sheet metal is a booger to work with. Anyways, got the roof on and gonna tie together the drip edges tomorrow.

I took a lot of time to make sure it stays dry. Here's a close detail of the drip edges. Haven't bent them over yet, but y'all get the idea. The roof frame cantilevers the walls by 6"

Are you just going to skin it with metal siding and mount on a wood base?

Trying to get an idea of what it will be when finished.

It was 3/8"X3" scrap that I picked up at a lumber mill. Treated each piece with water sealer before and after installing.

Since you have "next to nothing" in materials, can I get one for next to nothing? lol

This is the spec house. To show what I can do. If someone wants a quality shooting house, this is what I'm going to use as a reference. Prices will fluctuate with demand.

Re: Steel Framed Shooting Houses - 09/28/16 08:31 PM

I'm not selling this one anymore, I'm gonna donate it to the family. If anyone wants to buy the plans I've drawn for it, they're a good set. The cedar windows worked out great. Im awful proud of this thing.

The window(s) are self contained so they slide over each other.

What do yall think?
