I wish just once before I'm too old to hunt

that a shot deer would run up hill and away from a briar thicket instead of down hill and dead in the middle of one. Its bad enough to have to drag one up hill but to spend 45 minutes crawling through briars to find it first just makes it worse. I think I'm bleeding worse than the deer. my second this year, about biggest one I've shot so far, especially for a doe. Twenty yards, stalk hunt, Ar15 M4, 77g V max, ACOG, entry left chest at an angle, turned inside right shoulder into jello.

Congrats bud! Time to get the band aids out. Haha

Thanks - When they won't come out of the thickets till after dark what else can you do but get in there after them. Really have to watch the wind though. Last night I had one that couldn't have been more than ten yards from me for about twenty minutes. Could not find it to make a shot. Finally got too dark. The one tonight was moving around for thirty minutes or so before I got her. Sneaky. One or two steps, then wait four or five minutes. She was staring straight at me too. Had her hoof up to blow and stomp when I let go on her.

I see some of those jungle skills are coming out.

Trade that toy for a good bolt action in 7mm08 and you want have to track another deer.
