Bankhead rules triple check

Bankhead rules triple check - 11/26/14 11:12 AM

The gun hunts that are 4 days or longer in duration do not require a check-in station permit, correct? You only need the printed map with rules/regulations with the hunter's signature on it. For example the Nov. 26-29 Zone A hunt that started today only requires with the map/rules to be signed an in your possession.

I keep saying "only need", but for all hunts you also need a hunting license and WMA permit. I'm asking here about the check-in station permit.

Correct. Zone B need a daily use permit from check station.

Zone A need a map/permit only.

Of course, with the appropriate WMA license.

And that's on Black Warrior WMA, not Bankhead. People call it Bankhead all the time, but that is very confusing, because Bankhead is open permit public land. The Black Warrior WMA is not. It is by special permit on certain days only.

You only need hunter orange in areas open to gun deer hunts by regulation. By regulation, Zone B is closed to gun deer hunts except on designated days, so all you need is the map permit. No orange.

With that said, it would be a good idea to wear it anyway while walking to and from your stand.
