Me and the wife are 0-2 this year right out the gate

Got in the stand about 2 after walking her to her stand. I climbed in a shooting house overlooking a cutover and a green field. About 4:15 pm 2 does came in to the field I watched them for 10 minutes before I decided to take the biggest one. I shot using the iron sights on a 7400 30-06 from about 20 yards and flat out missed. Completely baffled by it. I got down walked over to where she was when I shot with no blood or hair or anything. And as soon as I climbed down I heard my wife shoot . Tracked where they both went into the woods and never found any blood from either deer. I guess it happens sometimes but just blows my mind that I missed that close. Better luck next weekend I hope.At least we both missed so she didn't have something to pick on me all week about lol

dont sweat it happens to all of us. just remember up in a stand not to shoot too high. well 20 yds that wouldnt be a problem. i miss more doves on a limb than flying.
