Mr. Anderson is the meat manager at the Piggly Wiggly in Stevenson.
I worked for Upper Sand Mountain Parish in DeKalb/Jackson Co. (north Sand Mountain) and I went to get donated venison each fall the three years I was there. His place is clean. His smoked sausage is the best I've ever had -- Jalapenos and cheese is my favorite. If I wasn't two hours away I'd take my deer to him this year.

Yeah I saw Jenkins when I went back through the thread but was trying to garner some more opinions on others in Jackson Co. I looked up Backwater in Gurley and their web site gives good details. Only a few bucks more expensive for butchering than where I'm going now, but cheaper and lower minimum for specialty stuff. I will definitely hit them up next year ... if I score one from Skyline. I've been watching some videos about field dressing and quartering deer for packing out. I love going deep in the woods, just have to be sure I can make it out without my walker. LOL

High dollar ripoff artists. Jalapeńo & cheese summer sausage fair. Too much salt. People over rate their summer sausage. Not all that. Regular smoked sausage had little flavor. Especially for a place called Smokehouse. Never seen a processor destroy backstraps & tenderloins like these guys. Not to mention they busted the tip off an 8 point when they took the rack off one deer. Used them twice & will never use them again. Trust me when I say do not use these bozos. Ripoff city. Expect a $300-400 bill depending on what you order.

^^^This. Just used them for the first time. I dropped off meat from my two deer with them Monday after opening weekend and it was ready Tuesday of this week. I've only had the cooked jerky so far and it's excellent. $105 got me 32.5 lbs of ground meat and cube steak, 8 lbs uncooked sausage, and 1 lb of cooked jerky. Very friendly folks. I added them to the map above.

Wanted to give a positive review of Central Alabama Deer Processing in Sardis/Selma. I had used Nichol's in Selma for years until I thought the quality was declining. I started processing my own, but there are times I don't have time to do it. I decided to use Central Alabama as it's fairly convenient to where I hunt. When I dropped a deer off and told him I was a first time customer he graciously showed me around the place and gave me some samples of his summer sausage and snack sticks. I was very impressed with the cleanliness and neatness of the place. Was especially pleased that all the cube steak and loins were packaged in meat trays and vacuum sealed with printed labels of the cut and weight. Cooked some of the burger the other night in the skillet and it was neither bloody nor gamey tasting. I will definitely use them again.

Re: List Of Processors - 01/26/16 05:46 PM
Well, I can NOT recommend Terry's Meat Processing in Blountsville. After hours drop off, but only 7-4 p/u during the week. Make sure you bring enough ice so it can sit around in your cooler for 3-4 days, until they get around to it, and Lord help you if you have a primo cooler that'll freeze meat, because they'll make sure to tear open the bags and dump ice all over your venison, so it can get nice and freezer burned before processing. If you enjoy picking up your cooler with melt water and blood in it, after being chunked outside in the gravel, to spend two weeks in the sun, then having to clean it out, before putting your meat in it, to carry home, all while being told how awesome they do things and coming away with the impression that it's a privelege to purchase processed meat from them, between 7-4, M-F.

Just got the meat back today. I will try to update when I've eaten some. His address is 7175 HWY 144, Ragland, AL. Access is on Hickory Road.
He charged $55 and prefers to gut it himself.

Review for 2 around the Oakman/Parrish and Dora/Jasper area.
One is Bottoms up deer processing between Parrish and Oakman. 205-617-8607 Maybe 10 minutes from the Jacks in Parrish on 269.
New processor, clean facility, no vacuum sealing but packing and cleanliness was great. $65 whole deer un gutted. Facility is at the guys residence so late drop off was no problem.
Next is Argo deer processing on hwy 78 between dora and Jasper right up from the old Bama dragstrip. 205-255-0021 Closes at 8pm. Packaging was top notch, Everything vacuum sealed , labeled and clean. $70 un gutted.

X2. Have been using ground meat and link sausage from the deer I shot earlier this year. First time I have used them and the meats are excellent. The grilled burgers we ate this weekend would make anyone believe they were eating ground chuck.

I recently used Wilderness Processors, in Green Pond. The meat was ready in 7 days (quick turn around but they didn't let it hang and age any). Its a small operation. They called saying they needed me to get my venison because they were out of freezer space. It was very expensive. All cuts were a la cart, no flat fee for cutting up the deer. Hamburger was packaged into 1 lb blocks rather than 2 lbs, which is good.

I took one this past week to a place in Troy called "Whats-N-It" near the airport. Really clean looking place. Feller was a little gruff. Haven't gotten deer back so can't speak to that. Also found a place in Goshen called Sander's Processing that I will try out as well hopefully this year.

Ive used Deer Cuts for years and they do a good job but i was a little miffed yesterday when they couldnt take one from a customer they have had since they started processing. I tried the guy at Whats N It but couldnt even talk to him on the phone - gruff is an understatement Hall.

Hunted with my Pastor’s 14 year old daughter yesterday. She shot an 8 point at about 3:40. Ended up being gut shot. Didn’t push him and let him lay over night. Jeff Adams met us at the camp at daylight this morning with his catahoula dog, Rainey. She did amazing and went right to him. Jeff is an outstanding guy if you ever need a track in south central AL. He lives around Florala. It was the girls first buck. She was pumped that Rainey found it even though the coyotes got most of him.

Absolutely you will wait. He finished my February deer in October. It’s about the quality of his final product. He delivers a quality product and stands by it. No one comes close to his quality. I’ve used Brantley and other assorted processors in the past and no one comes close to Josh’s quality products. Well worth the wait or pay the rush or double rush to not wait as long. Shipped my last deer to me a few weeks ago which worked out but double rush is cheaper.
