Why, yes it is illegal to hunt with a suppressor...You might want to redact your previous post, before ole sarge gets a visit from ole GW.... Just sayin...

I see Skullworks already saw the problem with your post so I just modified it to show your quote. You just admitted he killed the deer illegally.

Hey bud, It sounds to me like you just wanted to get on here and tell everybody how close you were to this incredible deer and the hunter who shot him. I have a text on my phone from the hunter. It shows me asking him before I posted it and him saying "Sure Bud, I don't mind a bit". and then you get on here and blab a little too much about the hunt. Not very smart dude. Go head and ask him if Jake Booth didn't ask before posting pic.

Don't get it twisted man. You called me out by assuming I didn't ask first and said how upset you were about it. I think the hunt is awesome as well. My blabbing comment was referring to you mentioning something that maybe shouldn't have been mentioned. No smack talk here, just keeping it real.

And to the rest of the folks on here...please don't assume things or downgrade this guys deer. It was not killed in a refuge or at night. I really hoped nothing negative would come from this man killing a huge buck in Alabama. He killed this huge buck, nothing more..nothing less.

Yep. I know a guy in Blount county that was in court today because of his wife's Facebook post...

Re: Etowah County Stud!!! - 01/08/14 10:25 PM

You cant get in trouble because of what somebody said. Im sure it was a misunderstanding anyway. If that were the case then everybody that posts big bucks on here that have people say it was killed at night or over corn, and wasn't.. would all be in trouble...right?
Posted By: Brent

Re: Etowah County Stud!!! - 01/08/14 10:28 PM

Yes you can. You didn't say it. The other guy wanted everyone to know how intense the hunt was. He gave way too many details. If you think wardens an the dcnr don't keep up with this site you are mistaken.

I know I didn't say it. Just trying to make a point that if somebody says something, there is room for error...as in maybe it was a misunderstanding or and assumption.
Posted By: Brent

Re: Etowah County Stud!!! - 01/08/14 10:38 PM

I understand your point, but it's too late I bet. I'm not ratting him out but you can bet a warden read this post before he deleted it. Like I said earlier, I know a guy that was in court today because of his wife's Facebook post.
Posted By: Deadwood

Re: Etowah County Stud!!! - 01/08/14 10:39 PM

It was SURELY a misunderstanding. There's NO such thing as a "silencer". Hasn't been invented yet. A "suppressor" is what was meant. Carry on.
Posted By: rblaker

Re: Etowah County Stud!!! - 01/09/14 12:01 AM

And since it's in Etowah County you can bet the two wardens there will be doing some investigating.

I can think of only one reason someone would shoot a deer with a suppressed rifle.......
Posted By: Clem

Re: Etowah County Stud!!! - 01/09/14 11:14 AM

And what would that be? That he's a dirty poacher?

Suppressors are legal for hunting deer in several states and are gaining popularity. Suppressed does not mean "absolutely 100% quiet." There's still a sound but it's not as loud.

I wish they were legal to use here in Alabama for hunting. Maybe one day they will be.

Re: Etowah County Stud!!! - 01/09/14 10:16 PM

Hey y'all, this is the feller that got the stud I like to call the Lookout Mountain Swamp Donkey. I wish I could afford a suppressor and the tax stamp to legally own one and even have the gunsmith job done to my Remington 700 26in Bull barrel. I did not use one or do I hunt at night. I have let a lot of bucks walk over the years because of their age and size. All that waiting paid off on a 6 year old 12 point. If you let the young spikes up to small 8's walk they will get as big as this. That is why it is my first buck, and I sure am glad I have had the patients to wait for 15 or 20 years to get this mature buck.

Hey Thanks Y'all. Just glad I could get on here and set my story straight. Awesome things happen to those that wait.

Welcome Sarge! Thank you for your service.

I appreciate the fact that you came on here to defend your great kill. Ethics and patience makes sense for anyone while hunting.

Just like you said, I really can't see why anyone with any Title II equipment would want to jeopardize it all by doing something dumb like what was first described.

I'm happy for you and your awesome kill.

Everytime ANYONE makes a trophy kill like that or catches a record fish, the hearsay seems to start.

That's why a lot of folks on here NEVER talk about ANY of their successes.

You were thrust into the spotlight here and I'm sorry that you were.

Again, thanks and congrats! thumbup
