Deer With Palmated Antlers

Got this guy on camera a few days ago.



I've got a question for the biologists and experts on here. Is this a genetic trait or is it usually caused by injuries or something else. I was wondering, because a few years ago, I saw a buck just for a split second that looked like this one except a good bit bigger. This is the first time I've had a pic of this and I just figured the one I saw a few years ago could be this ones daddy? From the pics I figured this one at a 3 year old at best.

We've got a shed from long ago that's about 5 or more inches across the palmation.I don't know whether it's a genetic trait or not, we've never seen or killed another deer with any palmation that would even remotely resemble this shed.

Hell yea... My boy almost got a shot last week, at one that had a palmated left beam..

A deer that scored around 180 was killed last year around Fayette that was palmated like that. It won the big buck contest at woods and water in Tuscaloosa.

Always cool to see one with palmated antlers.

When scoring a deer with palmated antlers,do you still measure the same way as you would a regular deer?
